NBA Mavericks vs Thunder Prediction & Same Game Parlay picks: Dallas surprises in Game 1 at +476 odds

It will be experience vs youth tonight in Oklahoma City as the Thunder host Game 1 of their 2nd Round series vs the Dallas Mavericks. I was able to cash on a +509 odds SGP winner on the Pacers vs Knicks game last night, hoping to go back-to-back here. Tip-off is at 9.30 pm ET on TNT, scroll down below to see my Same Game Parlay bet.

Let’s dive into my SGP bet now!

DAL Mavericks +3.5 (-110)

Kyrie Irving Over 24.5 Total Points (-120)

Chet Holmgren Over 1.5 Made Threes (+104)

Same Game Parlay odds: +476

DAL Mavericks +3.5 (-110)

The regular season series did go OKC’s way 3-1, but one of those games didn’t matter as Dallas rested everyone in the final game of the season. I really like the Mavs’ chances here, their performance vs the Clippers in Game 6 was impressive. Momentum should on their side, OKC hasn’t played in 8 days after their sweep of the Pelicans, so rust could be a factor here. As a group, this team hasn’t yet been this far in the postseason, so I’m curious to see how they react.

Dallas was able to contain SGA to just 22 points per game in those 4 regular season meetings, if they can translate that into the postseason as well, I’d pick them to advance. Let’s not get too ahead of ourselves though. For the underdog Mavs, Game 1 is all about catching the Thunder off guard, just like Minnesota did so against the Nuggets. Take Luka and co. to cover here.

Kyrie Irving Over 24.5 Total Points (-120)

To say that Kyrie Irving has matured would be the understatement of the year. When this man focuses solely on just basketball he is one of the best in the world and the 1st Round series vs the Clippers proved just that. His experience will be invaluable for the Mavericks, nobody on either roster has experienced what Irving has so far in his career, so I’m looking for the veteran to school the young pups in Oklahoma City. During the regular season he averaged 30.5 points per game in 2 meetings on impressive efficiency from the field (62.2%) and also from downtown (42.9%). He also punished the Thunder from the foul line at 90% and averaged 10 dimes per game. After seeing him dominate the Clippers and clear this line twice in the last 3 games, I’m going to continue backing the hot hand of Kyrie Irving here.

Chet Holmgren Over 1.5 Made Threes (+104)

He won’t win the Rookie of the Year award, but Chet Holmgren still balled out this season and continued to do so in the 1st Round vs New Orleans. His three-point efficiency has dropped off a bit, but that’s understandable for someone experiencing their first postseason run. Still, I expect him to bounce back here as the Thunder open the series at home. He averaged 37.6% of makes from three-point land at Paycom Center in the regular season, making 1.6 shots per game. In 4 meetings vs Dallas that percentage went all the way up to 40%, with him averaging just 24 mins a night. We’ve seen the Mavs struggle at times containing the three-ball, most notable in Game 4 when LA went 18-for-29 from downtown. Look for Chet to exploit his match-up with the Dallas bigs and draw them out to the perimeter, we can only hope he converts on a couple of long distance shots here.
