Watch Joe Rogan lose his mind as Sean Strickland drops Israel Adesanya and scores stunning upset

Joe Rogan thinks Sean Strickland may have just pulled off the most stunning upset in UFC history.

The unfancied American outpointed Israel Adesanya over five rounds to take his middleweight title at UFC 293 in Sydney, Australia on Sunday morning.

Rogan, who usually commentates on big UFC fights, opted against taking the trip down under and instead watched Adesanya vs Strickland in his podcast studio with friends.

The 56-year-old streamed a live watch-along on YouTube and his reaction to Strickland scoring a heavy knockdown in the first round has quickly gone viral.

Rogan was smoking a cigar and discussing how marketable the brash 185lb contender would be as a champion when he landed a massive overhand right to drop Adesanya.

The MMA legend repeatedly screamed ‘Oh my God’ along with his comedian pals while intently watching as Strickland followed up by unleashing a flurry of ground strikes.

‘Stylebender’ survived but never really got into the fight and he was ultimately on the wrong end of unanimous 49-46 scorecards from the three cageside judges.  

Rogan says Strickland’s win was the most shocking he’s ever seen, and he even compared it to what is arguably the biggest upset in UFC history.

“I’m stunned,” Rogan said after watching the UFC 293 main event.

“I think this is the most stunned I’ve ever been, surprised at a performance.

“Like, Holly Holm-Ronda [Rousey]. I knew Holly was dangerous. I knew Holly was a legit striker and if Ronda couldn’t get her to the ground, Holly is a multiple-time world kickboxing champion.

“When he cracked him with that right hand in the first round, I was like, ‘What world? What timeline are we on?’”

During his post-fight interview, Strickland admitted he had doubts about his ability to win a scrap against a man some consider to be the greatest MMA middleweight of all time.

After picking up such a convincing victory, it’s unlikely Strickland will rematch Adesanya anytime soon and he can instead look forward to facing number one contender Dricus du Plessis.
