The five Premier League players set for Boxing Day suspensions including Arsenal and Chelsea stars

People all around the country will be filling their stomachs with Christmas dinner leftovers and Baileys throughout Boxing Day.

But that’s not the case for Premier League footballers who have to leave their family festivities behind to lace up their boots.

There are several players set to take no part in the festive fixtures

The stars will be set for a bumper day of action, however, for some, they will be watching at home.

34 top-flight stars were at risk of receiving a Christmas ban and five have fallen into the trap.

Should a player receive five bookings before the halfway point of the season (19 games) they receive a one-game ban.

The card tallies reset after the festive fixtures, meaning those players still on four bookings are nearly clear of serving a suspension.

Arsenal’s Kai Havertz is one player to have accumulated five bookings, meaning he won’t take part in the Gunners’ game against West Ham.

Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling are also suspended, so Chelsea will have to do without them against Crystal Palace.

Aston Villa man Matty Cash won’t play against Manchester United.

And finally, Sheffield United defender Jayden Bogle won’t play against Manchester City.
