The Fantasy Footballers Mock Draft: Podcast Recap with #TeamDucers

What’s better than having the Ballers five days a week? Kicking it off with a mock draft that includes the Ducers!

The settings used during this mock draft were: 12 teams, 0.5 ppr with four bench spots. Andy picked at 1.02, Mike picked at 1.05, Ducers picked at 1.06, and Jason picked at 1.10.

Round 1:

Andy – CMC, MikeCooper Kupp, DucersTyreek Hill, JasonStefon Diggs

The guys discussed the benefits of running through mock drafts and how it can help you strategize your upcoming draft. After this discussion, Andy takes the layup of Christian McCaffrey after Justin Jefferson comes off the board at 1.01. Mike then takes Cooper Kupp as he believes he will get a ton of targets—the Ducers then drumroll in to scoop up Tyreek Hill. Bijan Robinson goes right before Jason’s pick, so he shifts to Stefon Diggs with a plan to take Nick Chubb on the comeback.

Round 2:

AndyAmon-Ra St. Brown, MikeTony Pollard, DucersJosh Jacobs, JasonNick Chubb

Lo and behold, Jason’s playing of the ADP game pays off and Nick Chubb falls to him. The Ducers like risky business and leap Josh Jacobs. Mike follows that up by taking Tony Pollard and breaking Andy’s heart. Andy sees a clear tier break after Pollard, so he shifts to wide receiver and takes Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Round 3:

AndyRhamondre Stevenson, MikeChris Olave, DucersDevonta Smith, JasonJahmyr Gibbs

Andy debates within himself between Rhamondre Stevenson and Jahmyr Gibbs. He settles on Rhamondre somewhat begrudging. Mike quaffles between his rankings and his heart before deciding to go with his heart and drafts Chris Olave. The Ducers do a bit of thinking before their next selection of Devonta Smith. Jason was hoping that Najee Harris would fall to him, but has to move to Jahmyr Gibbs with his selection.

Round 4:

AndyCalvin Ridley, MikeJ.K. Dobbins, DucersAlexander Mattison, JasonTerry McLaurin

Jason begins the 4th by grabbing another great player, Terry McLaurin. The Ducers are back on the clock and go for a big upside pick in Alexander Mattison. Mike is a bit saddened by this as he would have smashed the draft button on Mattison. Since he can’t get him he pivots and takes J.K. Dobbins. Andy has a player fall to him that he really wanted to get and goes with Calvin Ridley.

Round 5:

AndyMiles Sanders, MikeDrake London, DucersJustin Herbert, JasonCam Akers

Andy then quickly grabs Miles Sanders and continues to stack up talented players for his squad. Mike debates between taking Justin Fields to keep a balanced team but goes with Drake London and his upside. The Ducers rope-a-dope the Ballers by saying the wrong Justin before flipping to Justin Herbert. This pick comes much to the chagrin of Jason as he was hoping Herbie would fall to him. Jason has to make a switch over to looking for a running back and lands on Cam Akers.

Round 6:

AndyTua Tagovailoa, MikeTyler Lockett, DucersBrandon Aiyuk, JasonHollywood Brown

Jason is back on the clock and is honing in on the wide receivers. He breaks the tie between two players by gauging which WR he thinks will have more targets and drafts Hollywood Brown. The Ducers grab some value in the 6th and snatch up Brandon Aiyuk. Mike wastes no time and immediately drafts Tyler Lockett. Trevor Lawrence goes one pick before Andy, ruining his Ridley stack, but that does not deter him from grabbing a QB as he drafts Tua Tagovailoa instead.

Round 7:

AndyMike Evans, MikeAntonio Gibson, DucersDavid Montgomery, JasonJaxon Smith-Njigba

Andy decides that he is going to alter his plan of grabbing Darren Waller and decides to get Mike Evans. Mike has a wide receiver-heavy team so he decides to go after an RB here and shockingly *wink wink* takes Antonio Gibson. The Ducers follow that up by drafting David Montgomery. Jason is interested in taking a tight end but is not fond of the ones that have fallen to him so he decides to grab Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Round 8:

AndyBrian Robinson, MikeBrandin Cooks, DucersRashaad Penny, JasonJordan Addison

Jason goes with back-to-back rookie wide receivers and takes Jordan Addison to start things off in the 8th. The Ducers wish that Quentin Johnston would’ve fallen to them for the Herbie and QJ stack but they shift gears to grab Rashaad Penny. Mike follows that up by grabbing another wide receiver in Brandin Cooks. Andy gets sniped by Team 4 who took James Cook so he elects to take Brian Robinson to round out the 8th.

Round 9:

AndyZay Flowers, MikeKhalil Herbert, DucersGabe Davis, JasonDevon Achane

Andy starts the 9th by shooting his shoot on Zay Flowers. Mike has no TE or QB with three picks remaining but decides to go RB anyway and drafts Khalil Herbert. The Ducers then take the newly nicknamed Gabe the Babe in Gabe Davis. Jason was eying He Who Shall Not Be Named, but the QB went a few spots before him, so he selects Devon Achane.

Round 10:

AndySkyy Moore, MikeGeno Smith, DucersChigoziem Okonkwo, JasonGreg Dulcich

Jason thinks he has taken too many rookies as is, but he will NEVER take a rookie TE, so he instead drafts Greg Dulcich. The Ducers come back on the clock to grab their tight end in Chigoziem Okonkwo. Mike then grabs his stack with Lockett and drafts Geno Smith. Andy rounds it out by drafting for some high upside in Skyy Moore.

Round 11:

AndyDalton Kincaid, MikeTyler Higbee, DucersTank Bigsby, JasonAaron Rodgers

Andy rounds out his draft by taking the chance on the rookie Dalton Kincaid. With his final pick, Mike must take a tight end. He already has Cooper Kupp but he knows he will have a useable asset by drafting Tyler Higbee. The Ducers use their final pick to grab an absolute Tank, well Tank Bigsby that is. Jason then decides between Matthew Stafford and another player that unveils as Aaron Rodgers who he decides is worth the shot to end the draft.
