NFL DFS Tournament Takes: Week 9 (Fantasy Football)

Footclan, it is an absolute honor and privilege to be able to share my tournament thoughts with you on a weekly basis this season. My goal is to give you an extra resource to use when creating your lineups. I usually play one or two hand-built lineups every week and I’ve had much success in my career playing that way. Each week I’ll discuss my favorite stacks to utilize in large-field tournaments, ways to gain leverage on the field, and any other slate-specific thoughts.

In Week 3 of the 2021 NFL season, I won the Milly Maker and several other six-figure contests on DraftKings. I’ve also been to five live finals where I have competed against some of the best players in the industry. I’m so excited to be able to help you gain an advantage and win some big money this year!

Over the past three to four weeks, there has been a noticeable trend of low-scoring games, and this upcoming Sunday appears to follow a similar pattern. Out of the ten games we have on this slate, half of them have projected totals of 40 points or less. Also, for the fourth consecutive week, there are no games projected to surpass the 50-point mark.

For those of you playing multiple lineups, low-scoring games can present opportunities, as you’re likely to strike big in at least one of them. However, if you’re playing one lineup like I usually do, it can be a bit frustrating knowing you’ve really got to be spot-on with your plays. It’s alright to be frustrated but it’s crucial to approach each slate with confidence and conviction. So, let’s dive in and make the most of it.

Slate specific thoughts

In the previous week, I found it challenging to identify a game that genuinely excited me. I decided to shift gears and focused on analyzing a few games with potential for high-scoring shootouts. The good news is that this upcoming Sunday, we have a standout and unquestionable “Game of the Week” that should come as no surprise to anyone.

Game of the week Dallas Cowboys @ Philadelphia Eagles (O/U 47)

The upcoming clash between the Cowboys and Eagles promises to be exciting with both coming off impressive offensive performances.  The Cowboys have won four of the past five matchups but going on the road in Philadelphia is never an easy task.

The Eagles secondary has struggled mightily to stop the pass this year as they’ve allowed 16 passing touchdowns (3rd most in the NFL) and an average of 247 passing yards per game (6th most in the NFL). Dak Prescott’s $6,500 price is right about where it should be, and we can pair him with a couple of his receivers. Ceedee Lamb is the focal point of the offense. He had a career game last week with 12 catches for 158 yards and two touchdowns, and while his price tag of $8,200 is not necessarily cheap, it’s not impossible to get to him. Brandin Cooks has scored in consecutive games and he’s the best value on this offense with his price at $4,400. Jake Ferugson for $4,000 and Michael Gallup for $3,600 are also decent value as well.  Tony Pollard’s price tag is at its season low at $6,800 and while I think there’s some value there, I’m not going to prioritize him against this stout Eagles front seven.
