NFL DFS Tournament Takes: Week 11 (Fantasy Football)

Tua Tagovailoa of Miami Dolphins controls the ball during the NFL match between Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs at Deutsche Bank Park on November 5, 2023 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

Footclan, it is an absolute honor and privilege to be able to share my tournament thoughts with you on a weekly basis this season. My goal is to give you an extra resource to use when creating your lineups. I usually play one or two hand-built lineups every week and I’ve had much success in my career playing that way. Each week I’ll discuss my favorite stacks to utilize in large-field tournaments, ways to gain leverage on the field, and any other slate-specific thoughts.

In Week 3 of the 2021 NFL season, I won the Milly Maker and several other six-figure contests on DraftKings. I’ve also been to five live finals where I have competed against some of the best players in the industry. I’m so excited to be able to help you gain an advantage and win some big money this year!

It’s been a challenging few weeks for me after opting for Mac Jones in Week 9 and choosing Will Levis last week. I diligently strive to construct a lineup that I genuinely believe can claim the top spot in large fields and high-stakes tournaments, but I’ve had my fair share of missteps. Now, it’s time to buckle up and learn from those mistakes with less than half the season remaining. Over the years I’ve come to realize that overthinking any slate can lead to pitfalls as I have experienced recently. However, adhering to my mantra that confidence is key, I’m determined to put my head down and get to work, learning and improving as I always do.

Slate Specific Thoughts

In this 11-game slate, the abundance of options at each position is noteworthy. Notably, we have five players that are priced $9,000 or higher on DraftKings, and without going back and looking, I believe that’s close to if not the most we have seen on one slate this year. There are at least a few games that I could see shooting out, but also a couple that are projecting to be very low scoring, like the Browns and Steelers game that has an implied total of just 33 points. The game that stands out the most for DFS purposes will be held in my hometown, Detroit.

Game of the Week Chicago Bears @ Detroit Lions (O/U 48)

Forgive me for how much I love talking about the Lions. I’ve been a fan for nearly 30 years and have never witnessed a team as resilient and aggressive as this one. Dan Campbell continues to roll the dice week in and week out, and it has certainly paid dividends through the first 10 weeks of the season. The offense does not take their foot off the gas, and we’re finally playing at full strength. Jared Goff has always been much better at home, and his typical mid-range price of $6,600 is a great way to start against this Bears defense that’s allowed 20 passing touchdowns thus far (second most).
