Head-to-Head-to-Head Mock Draft Podcast Recap (Fantasy Football)

The guys are back together again, and is there any more fantastic way to celebrate than with a mock draft? I think not. Fresh off of vacation, Andy, Mike, and Jason jump right in. If you want to listen to this episode, you can find it here!

The settings used in this mock were: 12 teams, 0.5 PPR, with four bench spots. Jason picked 1st, Mike had the 1.05, and Andy had the 1.09.

Editors Note: Check out Andy, Mike, and Jason’s exclusive rookie rankings and updated Rookie Mock Drafts found only in the Dynasty Pass, part of the UDK+ for 2023.

Round 1:

JasonCMC, MikeJa’Marr ChaseAndyStefon Diggs

Jason starts the draft with the classic CMC pick, even though Andy was curious if he would take a WR. With a pretty open board, Mike is deciding between Ja’Marr Chase and Cooper Kupp; no RB comes into the convo here because there are prolific WRs available. Mike also thinks some solid RBs will make it back to him, and with that, he takes Chase. Kupp is sniped from Andy, and he hates his draft position right off the bat. He feels he cannot get a value here and begrudgingly takes Diggs.

Round 2:

JasonTony Pollard, MikeRhamondre Stevenson, AndyDerrick Henry

Knowing he has a long wait for an upper-tier RB here, Andy takes Derrick Henry. With Chase on his team, Mike is perusing RBs. He lands on Rhamondre Stevenson, especially with James Robinson now removed from the depth chart. Tony Pollard is scooped up by Jason, who is confident he will be a top-10 RB this season.

Round 3:

JasonTee Higgins, MikeChris OlaveAndyJahmyr Gibbs

Jason is tempted to draft one of the top QBs here, remembering how much of a difference they made on teams last season. He is also looking at Mark Andrews at this spot, but if he does, that means he is waiting a long time to grab his first WR. He lands on Tee Higgins. After some brief Joe Mixon consideration, Mike drafts Chris Olave. Andy is sniped again with Mark Andrews, and he dislikes his draft position once again. He is deciding between Jahmyr Gibbs and Aaron Jones, who are the last of a tier. The rookie wins here.

Round 4:

JasonTerry McLaurin, MikeAlexander MattisonAndyKeenan Allen

Andy’s frustration continues. He feels like he is settling here with Keenan Allen. Kyle is happy. Mike quickly drafts Alexander Mattison, and joyously, Jason gets his Terry McLaurin.

Round 5:

JasonJustin Herbert, MikeMiles SandersAndyCam Akers

Jason is happy now that he passed on a QB in the 3rd round, as Justin Herbert is here in the 5th round. Miles Sanders is a great value here, and Mike buys in and drafts him. He could be a three-down RB this year. Andy actually has a pick he wants to go with and selects Cam Akers with joy.

Round 6:

JasonKyle Pitts, MikeTyler Lockett, AndyHollywood Brown

Andy’s initial hope when taking Akers is that Hollywood Brown would be there for him in the next round. He is indeed, and Andy scoops him up. You will see a significant undervaluing of the Cardinals’ assets this season. Mike proudly picks Tyler Lockett, who he has projected as a top-15 WR. Kyle Pitts falls, and Jason capitalizes – he hasn’t been in on him the past two years, but this year is different.

Round 7:

JasonDavid Montgomery, MikeMike Evans, AndyJahan Dotson

The 7th round starts with Jason drafting Monty, who he thinks will have a solid season since Gibbs, in his opinion, is not the goalline guy. Mike finds himself wondering if Javonte Williams could be ready for the season – if he is, this could be a huge value. He can’t talk himself into it and drafts Mike Evans. Andy is going with upside here with Jahan Dotson, getting him three rounds after Terry McLaurin.

Round 8:

JasonGabe Davis, MikeRashaad Penny, AndyAntonio Gibson

Does Andy have what it takes to take his champion, Antonio Gibson? He does and now is invested in the Commanders’ offense. Mike isn’t a big fan of the top ADP RBs at this point in the draft, but he cannot stop drafting Rashaad Penny, who he projects to be the leader of the Eagles’ backfield. Jason wants to double-tap the WRs here since he has already drafted a TE and QB. He is looking for someone who could explode, and that is Gabe Davis.

Round 9:

JasonZay Flowers, MikeTua Tagovailoa, AndySamaje Perine

Jason completes the double tap with Zay Flowers, who he believes will be the WR1 in Baltimore. Mike realizes it’s time to look for a QB and takes some upside with Tua. Sniped again by Mike and Tua, Andy takes Perine here, who he believes in.

Round 10:

JasonKendre Miller, MikeDalton Kincaid, AndyChigoziem Okonkwo

Andy closes out his draft with Chig in the 10th round, leaving QB last. Mike isn’t a big fan of any of the remaining TEs and then is somewhat forced into Dalton Kincaid, who he can quickly drop if, after week one, he is not involved in the offense. Jason needs an RB and is deciding between Zeke and Kendre Miller. The new hotness in Miller wins here.

Round 11:

JasonElijah Moore, MikeRomeo Doubs, AndyMatthew Stafford

Jason is now positioned to take the player with the most value going forward. He swings for the fences with Elijah Moore, hoping Watson can return to his former football playing ways. Mike takes a shot with Romeo Doubs, and Andy is left sifting through garbage regarding his QB. He closes it out with Matthew Stafford.
