Waived/injured the following player:

Waived the following player from Reserve/Injured with an injury settlement:

  • WR Tyrie Cleveland

No super-crazy surprises on there. Four tight ends on the 53 is interesting. Obviously they’ll have to work out some punters to replace Siposs, because they don’t have any other P on the roster. You down with OPP? Other possible punters.

K’Von Wallace ended up being a disappointment. Maybe we hyped him up too much with the Brian Dawkins stuff a few years ago. He capped out as a decent special teams player. Josh Sills had an uphill battle after winning his court case and rejoining the Eagles. Trey Sermon showed some flashes but just ended up stuck behind four other guys on a deep running back list. Nicholas Morrow, we thought, would play a lot of snaps for this squad when the Birds signed him early in free agency, but he was outplayed by others in camp. He could be back early. Britain Covey and Devon Allen seemed to be in competition for a returner spot, but both were let go, so we’ll see what happens there.

Certainly a number of these guys will be back on the practice squad, and perhaps elevated depending on how the injury situation goes this season. Perhaps the most surprising 53-man inclusions are Eli Ricks, the UDFA who had a great camp, and Kentavius Street, the DT who signed on a one-year deal. The Birds went pretty heavy at DT and CB. Mario Goodrich also made the 53.
