The Rays have lost their last three series and seven of nine games. However, anytime we can get McClanahan, the league leader in ERA (1.84), strikeouts (105), and WHIP (0.855) at plus-money odds, we will jump at that opportunity.
Tampa Bay is 7-1 in McClanahan's last eight starts, and it will take a lights-out effort from Cole to beat him on the road.

Under 6.5 (-108)
The only Rays loss in McClanahan's last eight starts is a one-run loss to New York, though he allowed just one earned run, and the Yankees had three hits overall. Meanwhile, Cole had not beaten Tampa Bay in seven starts before 2021, but his two career wins against them have come in the last two seasons. And so far this year, Cole has held the Rays to one earned run on seven hits over 12 innings while striking out 17.

McClanahan has been filthy against left-handed hitters this year. He has allowed just seven total hits to lefties (one home run) and has a 1.83 groundout-to-airout ratio. Rizzo is 0-for-8 in his career against McClanahan and should not be able to drive the ball against one of the best southpaws.
