Who does Gareth Bale play for? How many trophies has he won? Wales superstar eager to shine at Qatar World Cup

Gareth Bale will make his 110th Wales appearances against Iran today and become their most-capped player ever.

The 33-year-old scored the winning goal for Wales in their 1-0 win over Ukraine in June to qualify for the winter tournament.

He then smashed home from the penalty spot to rescue a point for them in their World Cup opener against USA on Monday.

Wales will need their talisman to be at his best again when they face Iran in a crucial clash.

Who does Gareth Bale play for?

The Wales captain headed stateside to join MLS outfit LAFC after the end of his contract at Real Madrid this summer.

Bale, who had an offer from boyhood club Cardiff, penned an initial 12-month deal and has the option to extend that by another year.

The winger spent much of the MLS season struggling with a leg injury, and managed just three goals in 13 matches.

However, the last of those proved to be huge for LA – with Bale’s 128th minute equaliser in the MLS Cup final proving to be the cataylst for the club to go onto beat Philadelphia Union on penalties.

How many trophies has he won?

Bale’s latest club triumph in the MLS carried on a theme in his career.

The Wales star has now won a trophy in every season since he originally left Tottenham in 2013/14 except for one – the campaign he spent on loan at Spurs back in 2020/21.

Bale was at least part of the last Tottenham team to have won silverware during his first stint, lifting the EFL Cup in February 2008.

As was the case with Spurs team-mate Luka Modric, Bale had to wait until his move to Real Madrid before he started racking up more medals.

His highly successful tenure in Europe ended with him becoming the first British player to win five Champions League trophies.
