Thirsk racing tips

2.55: Good Earth 11/2

Continues to outrun his odds and remains in the best form, coping with rising classes and weight.

He’s finished in the top three in his last ten runs and is an each-way player once more.

Predominantly seen in big field Class 4 handicaps this season he rallied behind Intrinsic Bond in the step up to Class 2 company.

The 5-year-old is now just 2lb higher for that run and drops in class and given his recent form shouldn’t have an issue with these rivals.

Asadjumeirah is also interesting each-way at 9/1 given his course and distance win and is just his second time out since being gelded.

His first run prompted improvement to come second and off a markedly lower mark could make all alongside Good Earth.

Newmarket racing tips

3.10: Shigar 11/4 (NB)

This William Haggas-trained horse has seen some stiff competition as a two-year-old, taking on Samburu on debut before Desert Crown on his second run.

Richard Kingscote the Derby winner then steered him towards his first victory after a break which also contained a wind surgery and gelding operation.

That clearly did the trick and on a second run from a wind surgery it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the three-year-old bowl on over a mile.

If previous form against eventual group and listed winners is anything to go by and eventual improvement from these operations, 11/4 looks like a great price to gamble on.

Hamilton racing tips

6.53: Cormier 10/1

Was a non-runner for the SkyBet Handicap Class 2 over 1m4f last week at the Ebor Festival but could now have his chance to prove himself even further on the flat.

Beat City Streak by over two lengths on his reappearance on the flat and definitely won’t mind if the going is still good to soft, it would be preferable if it remains or even gets a bit softer.

As a former hurdler he’s very industrious and at a rating of 138 should cope with this big field as he has done in the past with five wins, three second and third in just 15 turf runs.

At 10/1 it would be a surprise not to get a return each-way in this kind of field.

Goodwood racing tips

5.35: Ramensky 13/2

Colt by Cracksman is a fair price at this stage given this could be a tough debut.

But his sire won first time out over this distance and as he’s trained by William Haggas has a real chance under Stevie Donohoe.

The going is soft and may keep a bit of that juice by the time the off comes and that again shouldn’t be an issue based on pedigree.

An open novice stakes with just nine runners but the market suggests this shouldn’t be discounted, behind three that have previous runs to their names already.

The market will also be a big sign throughout the day on Friday and if there’s more movement, with the odds shortening, there’s definitely a big chance.

6.10: Mostly Cloudy 9/4 (NAP)

Was looking for a six-timer last time out but was upped from a Class 3 run into a Group 2 at York.

Finished over 16 lengths behind Quickthorn at 10/1 and a return to this level will be more than on the cards after being upped in the ratings again.

Incredible stamina and consistent this season, since upped to a minimum of 1m6f has won each time with some to spare while the handicapper tries to catch up.

As a result his rating has gone up a staggering from 60 to 98 since April, just eight runs ago.

Andrea Atzeni booked is a bonus and will be the gelding’s sixth different jockey on board this season alone.
