NHL Picks April 10: Sabres and Lightning Headline Action

The NHL regular season is nearing its conclusion and teams are looking to play their best hockey heading into the playoffs. There are several games for April 10 with the Sabres and Lightning highlighting play.

Boston Bruins versus Washington Capitals

Boston enters 5th in the Eastern Conference and Washington is 8th in the conference. Both teams are “average” on the Team Strength Oscillator and the Bruins have a +26 to +15 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. I like Tampa Bay to cruise in this win, winning by two goals in a game “over” the line.

Los Angeles Kings versus Minnesota Wild

Minnesota enters 3rd in the Western Conference and Los Angeles enters 6th.  Minnesota has a +28 to +24 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator and “average” versus “average down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Kings have been involved in games “over” the line in their last six games. The Score Predictor likes the Wild by a 3-2 score with 32 percent confidence.  The Team Volatility Oscillator shows both teams with moderately good stability.  I like Minnesota by a goal, perhaps in overtime in a game going “over” the line.

Winnipeg Jets versus Ottawa Senators

Winnipeg still has a slim shot at the playoffs, while Ottawa has been eliminated. The Senators are “burning hot” versus “average down” and the Jets have a +12 to +11 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator. Note that Ottawa has been involved in games “over” the line in each of their last six games. The Team Volatility Oscillator indicates that both teams are consistently performing with regard to their favorite/underdog status.  I like Ottawa’s hot play to continue in another high-scoring game going “over” the line.
