LeBron James on Teaming Up With Stephen Curry: ‘ I Love Everything About That Guy’

The concept of player empowerment and players teaming up together will likely not be leaving NBA culture for quite some time.

Since the so-called superteam era began with the 2003-2004 Lakers, the Celtic Big 3, and the LeBron James-led Heatles, the best players in the NBA joining forces to increase their odds of winning an NBA championship has become normalized.

After the Lakers’ Big 3 experiment with James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook failed to garner a championship and playoff berth, James will presumably be on the hunt for another superstar to join forces with. If the Lakers front office can’t provide a championship-level squad, maybe James will leave the 17-time NBA champion via free agency or trade and change his circumstances. The future is unclear for the Washed King.

On a recent episode of The Shop, James reiterated his priority of playing in the League with his oldest son, Bronny James. The latter is at least two years away from being draft-eligible as he completes his junior year of high school. When the four-time MVP was asked who he’d like to team up with short-term, LBJ’s turned some heads around with who he said he’d like to play with.

“In today’s game, sh– there’s some m—–f—— in today’s game, but Steph Curry,” James said. “Steph Curry’s the one that I wanna play with for sure, in today’s game. … I love everything about that guy. Lethal. When he get out his car, you better guard him right from the moment he pulls up to the arena. … You might wanna guard him when he get out of the bed. Swear to god. He’s serious.”

James and Curry have played together in the last two All-Star games after James drafted him to his team. The two League legends have a long history together, facing off four consecutive times in the NBA Finals, with Curry winning three times while Bron won in 2016 after coming back from a 3-1 deficit.

Curry quickly swept the idea aside during a sports radio appearance when the greatest shooter ever was asked about teaming up with James.

“Well, he got his wish. He was the captain, and he’s picked me for the last two All-Star Games. So I don’t know if that suffices, but I’m good right now,” Curry said on 95.7 The Game. “Whenever you get the interest or curiosity of what it would be like to play with arguably the MVP kinda caliber dude like he is, one of the greatest of all-time, cool. That’s amazing. We all can live in that fantasy world.”
