Top Expert Spread Picks

Bills -13.5 (-110) vs. Miami Dolphins

The Bills eased to a 35-0 win against the Dolphins when the teams clashed at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami in Week 2. The Dolphins have lost all five games since then, and they have given up more points than an all but the Washington Football Team this season. The Bills have scored more points than any of their AFC rivals this season.

Buffalo is coming off a narrow loss to the Titans in Week 6, but it had a bye week to regroup, and this represents a perfect opportunity to get back to its winning ways against a banged-up Dolphins team that looks bereft of confidence. The 13.5-point spread seems large, but the Bills have already covered as 18.5-point home favorites against the Houston Texans this season, and they beat the Chiefs by 18 points. Bills QB Josh Allen should have a big day.

Chargers -4 (-110) vs. New England Patriots

While beating the Jets may not be that surprising, New England’s 54-point outburst in Week 7 certainly was. That seems to have boosted some confidence for bettors as this number has fallen below six points and down to Chargers -4. Los Angeles was on a bye in Week 7 and has been one of the better teams in the NFL against the spread at 4-2 ATS. The Chargers are 8-2 ATS over their last 10 games dating back to last season, and they are also 4-1 ATS in their last five games as home favorites.

Titans +2.5 (-105) vs. Indianapolis Colts

The Titans are coming off of two impressive wins, and it is hard to see them slowing down against a divisional rival. RB Derrick Henry is on pace for another 2,000-yard season, and he alone can wear down an entire defense.

Indianapolis is playing at home, but it has yet to prove itself against a true opponent. The Colts’ best win of the season was against a struggling San Francisco 49ers team. Even with Tennessee’s question marks at wide receiver, it has what it takes to dominate the time of possession and win this game outright.

Vikings +2.5 (-110) vs. Dallas Cowboys

The Vikings host the Cowboys on Sunday night in what should be a raucous atmosphere at U.S. Bank Stadium. The Cowboys enter this game on a five-game winning streak and are the only team in the league with an undefeated ATS record. As the general public becomes more and more aware of that fact, oddsmakers will start to use that against bettors.

The Cowboys lead the league with 34.2 points per game and 460.8 yards per game. However, the Vikings defense does not get enough credit for their improvement throughout the season. They enter this game 13th in scoring defense (22.8 PPG). They’re also tied for first with 21 sacks and are first in pressure rate. Dallas’ offensive line has allowed just nine sacks through six games, but the constant pressure Minnesota’s defensive line will provide will have the Cowboys off-balance for the first time all season.

Chiefs -9.5 (-110) vs. New York Giants

This is a classic get-right spot for the Chiefs, coming off a blowout loss against Tennessee. Kansas City’s only two blowout wins have come against losing NFC East teams. K.C. gets a good opportunity to get a third against a Giants squad that has been rocked by mobile quarterbacks, including Dak Prescott.

Top Expert Over/Under Picks

Eagles vs. Lions Under 48.5 (-110)

The Lions haven’t scored 20 points since Week 1 and Under cashed in each of their last five games. The Detroit passing game has been ineffective, and the Eagles should be able to keep QB Jared Goff reasonably quiet. Eagles QB Jalen Hurts has not been much better than Goff this year, and the Eagles are 1-5 in their last six games.

The Under cashed in five of the Eagles’ last seven games against teams with losing records. RB Miles Sanders (ankle) was placed on injured reserve on Friday, which further deprives the team of a key offensive weapon. It is hard to trust either of these offenses to put up the necessary points for this game to go Over the total points line.

Steelers vs. Browns Over 42 (-110)

This is one of the most interesting games of the week. Pittsburgh looked totally dead in the water before winning two games in a row, and yet still feels totally irrelevant and mediocre. Cleveland was destined for greatness but has lost two of three games due to self-inflicted mistakes and a cascade of injuries.

I like the Browns to win, even though their offense has been wrecked by injuries, but not enough to take the 3.5 points. Both offenses will find success against struggling secondaries, though, and push this Over.

Giants vs. Chiefs Under 52.5 (-114)

The Chiefs have been in a funk all year, and it is hard to predict when things will turn around. Until then, you have to assume the offense will sputter once again.

The Giants are without some key receivers, so it is hard to see them running up the score. Kansas City should win this game, but neither team appears ready to dominate on offense. Expect a struggle win for the Chiefs as the Under hits.

Bengals vs. Jets Under 42.5 (-110)

Jets QB Mike White is starting in place of the injured Zach Wilson in Week 8. Do we need to say more? It is not like New York’s offense was clicking with Wilson under center, as the Jets have not scored a single point in the first quarter so far this season. The last team to ever be held scoreless in the first quarter of their first six games was the 2008 Detroit Lions, who are also one of five winless teams since 1944.

Cincinnati should score its share of points, as QB Joe Burrow has thrown for at least two touchdowns in every game this season. However, this game has all the makings of a “trap game,” as a meeting with the lowly Jets is sandwiched between divisional games against the Baltimore Ravens and Browns. Therefore, do not expect the Bengals to be full throttle for four quarters, as New York will certainly not have Cincinnati’s full attention.

SEE: Bengals vs. Jets Week 8 Picks

49ers vs. Bears Under 39.5 (-110)

The Bears’ defense tends to play inspired when they return home after a loss. Most notably, they held Cincinnati to 17 points in Week 2 after getting blown out by the Los Angeles Rams on opening week. Later, Chicago limited the Lions to 14 points after losing badly in Cleveland. A Chicago offense led by interception machine Justin Fields will do little scoring of its own.
