REPORT: Toronto Raptors Chris Boucher Has Surgery on Finger, Expected to Miss 3-4 Weeks

This is a definitive season for not only Chris Boucher but the Toronto Raptors. Boucher had just finished a breakout season that could have led to the starting center spot on opening night. For the Raptors, they have a big decision to make on whether to lock their big man down for the future.

However, Josh Lewenberg of TSN reports that Boucher will miss at least 3-4 weeks after undergoing finger surgery.

The surgery was done to re-align his left middle finger that he dislocated in practice last Friday.

The injury will keep Boucher out the first couple of weeks of the regular season, if he returns on schedule. Boucher’s absence opens the door for Khem Birch to be the starting center on opening night with recently acquired Precious Achiuwa moving up the rotation to be the backup.

Boucher averaged 13.6 points and 6.7 rebounds a game last season while making strides with his efficiency. His two-way play on the court is increasingly evident with his impressive shot blocking and energy running the floor.

Toronto starts their regular season at home against the Washington Wizards on October 20th.
