Pacers Lose Guard Edmond Sumner To Achilles Injury

As the Pacers look to be a serious playoff team this season, they also will be grooming and developing several of their more inexperienced players along the way. One of these players was set to be Edmond Sumner, a 6-foot-6 guard who’s only got 108 games of experience under his belt.

Just 25 years old, Sumner was set for a breakout season in his fourth year in the NBA. However, the former second-round pick unfortunately will have to wait a while until he’s able to get on-court action again.

As first reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic, Sumner tore his Achilles tendon during workouts on Thursday.

Last season with the Pacers, Sumner had the best year of his career. He averaged 7.5 points per game while shooting 39.8 percent from beyond the arc.

Achilles injuries are brutal, but there’s still hope Sumner returns healthy next season and ready to take that next step.
