College Hoops Parlay Of The Day 3-13-21

Our smoking hot week continued yesterday as we nailed a parlay for the second straight day and finished 12-6 on our plays. Even the games we lost, it felt like we were on the right side of things as we had Purdue as money line dogs, and they went into overtime against Ohio State, and both North Carolina and Ole Miss, two other money line dog plays, had the games within one possession late.

We were on several of the biggest upsets of the day yesterday as we had Oregon State, Oklahoma State, and Ohio, who all won outright. Our record in the last two days is a red hot 25-10, good for nearly 72% winners! We will look to stay hot today with more Parlay of the Day action!

Point Spread Parlay

Not all parlays are the same. In this first section, we are going to focus on point spread parlays. A point spread parlay is a parlay bet where all of the games bet are point spreads, and you will have to lay a little juice on each bet. A standard 3-team point spread parlay will payout 6-1, a 4-teamer pays out 11-1, and a 10-teamer pays out a whopping 720-1! As you can see, the payouts can get really big, really fast, on point spread parlays!

Tennessee Volunteers at Alabama Crimson Tide (-4)

The Alabama Crimson Tide could win a national championship. I know it might sound crazy, but there is a dozen or so teams that could realistically win it all, and Alabama is one of them. The Tide rolled yesterday with a beatdown of Mississippi State, smashing the Bulldogs by almost 40-points. They get a rematch with Tennessee and will look to make it back-to-back wins over the Vols, after beating them in Knoxville earlier this year. After starting the season out 4-3, they have won 18 out of their last 21 games with wins over Tennessee, Arkansas, LSU, Florida, and Ole Miss.

The Vols were actually the co-favorites in the SEC coming into the year, but Tennessee struggled in league play, and the Vols barely finished above .500 in the SEC. Tennessee has somehow managed to not pick up a win over a tournament-level team not named Florida in over two months in league play. Wins over teams like Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky, and Texas A&M are wins, and they count, but they don’t prove to me that this team can make a deep run in the NCAA tournament. When Alabama is at their best, they can completely embarrass teams. We saw that last night, and we saw that earlier this year with wins over Georgia by 32, LSU by 30, Arkansas by 31, and Kentucky by 20, in Lexington. I see Alabama winning this game going away, and coasting to a cover.

Cincinnati Bearcats at Wichita State Shockers (-4)

I and shocked to see that the Shockers are basically being completely ignored by the national media right now. This is a second weekend team in March for sure, and they are playing their best basketball of the season at just the right time. Wichita is riding an 8-game winning streak, and they have a huge win over Houston on their resume a couple of weeks back. The Shockers got tested last night against South Florida, barely sneaking past the Bulls by just a point, but I think that game will only serve as a wake-up call tonight against Cincinnati.

I had the Bearcats yesterday as underdogs, and they won that game outright against SMU. The books will tell you that it was a big upset, but the Mustangs hadn’t played in over a month, and I always felt the Bearcats were going to win that game. Now, in this game, if they manage to beat Wichita State, I would be shocked. The Bearcats don’t have a single win over a team that is going to be dancing in March, and they aren’t getting one tonight. Wichita has four losses this year, with all of them coming to teams ranked in the top-50, and they are going to win this game a lot easier than most people seem to think against 112th ranked Cincinnati.

Iowa Hawkeyes at Illinois Illini (-3)

Illinois is really good. We have all argued back and forth on which team is the second-best team in the country behind Gonzaga, and with Baylor struggling down the stretch and Michigan losing Isiah Livers for the year, I think Illinois is that second-best team behind the Zags. The Illini have won 12 of their last 13 games with wins over Iowa, Ohio State, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Ayo Dosunmu is a monster in his black mask right now, and this team needs to be considered a national title threat.

No disrespect to Iowa here, they are also really talented, but their perimeter shooters just haven’t been consistent enough at times. Luka Garza is an animal in the paint and is a near-lock to take home the national player of the year honors, but guys like Jordan Bohannon, Joe Toussaint, Joe Wieskamp, and Connor McCaffery have a tendency to Luka-watch, as they disappear for long stretches of the game. If Iowa gets all of their shooters shooting, they could win this game. If they don’t, they could lose by double digits. Illinois finished the regular season by winning three straight road games at Michigan, Wisconsin, and Ohio State, teams all ranked inside of the top-11 on kenpom, and they are playing too well right now not to want to back them no matter who they are playing.

Money Line Magic

This next type of parlay we are going to look at is an all money line parlay. With these types of bets, you don’t care about points spreads, it is just who wins or loses the games that matter. Want to load up on a bunch of favorites and get paid when they all win? Do you smell a couple of big upsets? Parlay those together on a money line parlay, and you can get paid big!

Morgan State Bears at Norfolk State Spartans (-132)

Morgan State got us paid last night when they dominated their semifinals game against Coppin State, and tonight they play for their dancing shoes against Norfolk State in the MEAC conference tournament finals. These teams played four times in the regular season, with Norfolk winning the last three games of the series. All four games were tightly contested, and this one will be too. But I just see Norfolk as the better overall team, and the fact that they didn’t have to exert a lot of energy in last night’s game, and Morgan State will be playing their third game in three days, has me leaning towards the Spartans in a close one.

LSU Tigers at Arkansas Razorbacks (-167)

I put Arkansas on the same level as Alabama right now, as they could be a Final Four team. Eric Musselman is one heck of a coach, and the Razorbacks are on fire, having won 12 of 13 with 10 of those wins coming over top-100 teams. The Razorbacks made us sweat it out last night, needing a late free throw to cover and cash our ticket, but they were up double digits with three minutes to play, so they didn’t have any real threat of losing the game. LSU is a nice team, but they couldn’t beat Arkansas when the teams played in Fayetteville just over two weeks ago, and I don’t think they can beat them now. An Arkansas win, coupled with an Alabama victory in their side of the SEC tournament bracket, sets up the blockbuster finals we all want, and that is what I see happening. Back the ‘Backs.

Memphis Tigers at Houston Cougars (-315)

Houston is every bit a top-10 team. You wouldn’t know it from how little coverage they are getting in the media, but Kelvin Sampson is one of the most proven winning coaches in the nation in March, and he has the Cougars poised for a deep run. The schedule has been light for Houston, but when they have played good teams, they have beaten them. The Cougars have wins over likely tournament teams Boise State, Texas Tech, Wichita State, and Memphis. This game is going to be a knockdown drag-out fight, as Penny Hardaway has the Tigers playing well, but we just saw these teams play last week, and Houston won the game, and I think they make it two straight over the Tigers in this one.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Florida State Seminoles (-195)

Florida State had to hold on last night after they nearly blew a big lead over the North Carolina Tar Heels, and the Seminoles will have a chance to win the ACC tournament title tonight against Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets got a free pass to the finals as Virginia had a positive COVID-19 case inside the program, and Georgia Tech has played just one game since March 5th. All Georgia Tech had to do to make the finals was beat an awful Miami team. That might be the softest schedule ever for a team to make the ACC tournament finals, and I think the Yellow Jackets are going to be overmatched in this game.

G-Tech hasn’t beaten a team that is a lock for the NCAA tournament since they beat Florida State at home in January! It’s not the Yellow Jacket’s fault that the ACC stinks this year, but it is hard not to see this current 7-game winning streak as a bit fraudulent. Yeah, the Yellow Jackets can beat teams like Miami, Pittsburgh, and Wake Forrest, but can they beat a legit team like Florida State with so much on the line? I don’t think so. Florida State was a bit shaky down the stretch, but they have 9 wins over the top-100 this year, and I see them running that number to 10 with a win over a Georgia Tech team that probably shouldn’t even be in this game.

North Texas Mean Green at Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (-117)

Western Kentucky is the real deal. The Hilltoppers have signature wins over Memphis, and Alabama, as well as wins over the best teams Conference USA has to offer, as the Hilltoppers won the regular season league title outright with an 11-3 conference record. North Texas has been a sleeper team of mine all season long, but in a spot where they have to play their fourth game in four nights against a league championship team like Western Kentucky, I think their dream run ends tonight. The Mean Green finished the regular season by losing 3 straight games, and their record against the top-100 of 3-8 leaves a lot to be desired. The Hilltoppers are going dancing with a win in the Conference USA finals over a run-down North Texas team.

The Daily Dog

Do you want a chance at jumbo payouts? The best way to stack the cash fast is by parlaying underdogs! You can back these teams getting the points, but the best way to get a huge return on your money is to take these teams on the money line!

Utah State Aggies (+105) at San Diego State Aztecs

Joe Lunardi currently has Utah State as the last team getting into the NCAA tournament. A win in this game gets the Aggies in as an auto-qualifier, and a loss likely sends them to the wrong side of the bubble. San Diego State, on the other hand, is safely inside the field of 68, and while they would love a conference tournament title to go along with their regular season MWC title, they don’t actually need it to punch their dance card. These teams played twice in the regular season, with both games coming in Logan, Utah and the Aggies swept both games by an average margin of 8.5 points.

It was a tough spot for the Aztecs, as road games in league play are always tough, but it is fairly surprising to see the Aztecs as favorites in this game against Utah State that matches up with them so well. The Aztecs have done almost all of their winning at home, and their only win over the national top-50 came over UCLA in San Diego on opening night. It’s going to be an upset if it comes in, but in a game that could go either way, I am taking the Aggies.

New Mexico State Aggies at Grand Canyon Antelopes (+115)

Kenpom has Grand Canyon winning this game by 2-points, and it is exceedingly rare that you can get a team that Pomeroy has winning, as an underdog. The Antelope’s hosted the Aggies twice earlier this year and won both games fairly easily. This bet is a mirror of our previous bet on Utah State, where we can get a team that has already beaten their opponent twice this year as an underdog. I can certainly appreciate that it is very hard to beat a good team three times in one year, but at the end of the day, you won’t ever convince me that these games aren’t straight up coin flips. And if you are betting on a coin flip game, you always want to be on the side getting the juice, not laying it. I’m backing Grand Canyon.

UC Irvine Anteaters (+120) at UC Santa Barbara Gauchos

What a great game we have here between two of the best team names in the nation. Gauchos versus Anteaters is something we could use more of in college hoops! UC Irvine has been one of the best programs in the Big West over the last several seasons, and they even won a game in the tournament a couple years back as a 13 seed. You might sense a recurring theme with my underdog picks this morning, as the Anteaters are 2-0 against UC Santa Barbara this season. In one of those games, they smashed the Gauchos by 19-points. You can’t tell me to that a team that is 2-0 against another team and is capable of completely blowing them out like they did earlier this year, should be significant underdogs. Against teams ranked in the top-125, the Gauchos are just 2-4 on the year, whereas against teams ranked above 125th, they are 19-0. Send the Anteaters dancing with a mild upset!

Get Rich Or Die Trying

In this final section, we are going to go for the jumbo payouts! These are your lottery ticket types of plays that aren’t going to come in all that often but pay off big time when they do. A wise man once said, if you don’t swing hard, you never hit any home runs. Well, in this section, we swing for the fences!

Oklahoma State Cowboys (+3) at Texas Longhorns

I have been riding Oklahoma State for a month and getting rich while doing it! The Cowboys are playing as well as any team in the nation right now, and they are coming off of a huge upset win over Baylor last night, where they dominated long stretches of action against a team that many people see as the best team in the country. In the last several weeks, the Cowboys have wins over Oklahoma (twice), Texas Tech, West Virginia (twice), Baylor, and Texas. That give OSU one of the best collection of top wins of any team, and this team must be feared in March.

For Texas, the Longhorns have somehow managed to play a fairly soft schedule in the last month of the year, despite playing in a stacked Big 12. The Longhorns got a free pass last night, as the Kansas Jayhawks were shut down due to a COVID-19 positive test in the program, and I’ll be honest here, I didn’t think they could win that game, and I don’t think that they can win this one either. Texas had just two wins over the national top-100 going back to early January before beating Texas Tech in their opening game of the Big 12 tournament. The Longhorns record against the top-100 over that span? 2-6. OSU stays hot and covers this spread easily and likely wins the game outright.

Texas Southern Tigers at Prairie View A&M Panthers (-1.5)

Prairie View A&M has been the class of the SWAC all year long, going undefeated in conference play and taking home the regular season league title. They beat the Tigers at home, and they beat them on the road. The Tigers were solid this year as well as they only had one league loss besides the two they had to the Panthers, but after seeing Texas Southern get pushed to the max last night in an overtime affair with Jackson State, I don’t think the Tigers are up to the task of another upset tonight. It will be close, and we will sweat that number the entire way out, but I see the Panthers winning and sneaking in a cover.

Georgetown Hoyas (+9) at Creighton Blue Jays

Is Georgetown going to do the impossible and knock off Creighton and advance to the NCAA tournament after being left for dead just a week ago? At the end of the regular season, Georgetown was playing much better than they had at the start of the year with late wins over Providence, Creighton, Seton Hall, and Xavier, but at 9-12, they had no shot of an at-large bid. But the Hoyas have now picked up three upset wins in a row over Marquette, Villanova, and Seton Hall, and a win tonight gets them a Big East title and a ticket to the dance.

I mentioned in yesterday’s pick that Creighton is being criminally underrated and backed them against UCONN as dogs, and they won the game outright. So, I guess the books finally realized this team was good overnight, as they have overrated them significantly against a blistering hot Hoyas team. Will Patrick Ewing lead his alma mater back to the promised land with an unlikely Big East title? Maybe, maybe not. But to see them get blown out by double digits seems mighty unlikely. I am taking Georgetown and the points.

Ohio Bobcats at Buffalo Bulls (-2.5)

I had Ohio as dogs yesterday, and they came through and cashed our ticket, but I think today marks the end of the line for the Bobcats. They lost at home to Buffalo in the final game of the regular season by 20-points, and I don’t see any compelling reason that they are going to be much better tonight in the rematch a week later. The Bulls have won 10 of their last 11, and I think they win this game, and it might not even end up being all that competitive.

Abilene Christian Wildcats at Nicholls State Colonels (+7)

Abilene Christian is a team that could win a game in the tournament. If you want a bracket buster that nobody else is going to see coming, keep your eye on the Wildcats. That being said, they are overvalued in this game against a very solid Nicholls State team. The Colonels have won 16 out of their last 17 games, and I love backing teams with that kind of momentum late in the season. Abilene has been great all year too, but they did have an inexplicable loss to 332nd ranked Central Arkansas at the end of February, and while I see them winning this game, it is going to be a tight one. I am taking the hot hand and the points and in what should be a highly entertaining affair.

Oregon State Beavers (+9) at Colorado Buffaloes

I have bet Oregon State a lot recently, and they just keep finding a way to surprise people. I have been making a case that the Beavers should be at least a bubble team for the last couple of weeks as they have wins over UCLA, Oregon (twice), USC, Utah, and Stanford, but all of the bracket experts seem to disagree with me, so it is win or go home in this one against Colorado.

Colorado beat Oregon State twice this year, including thrashing them in Boulder by 29-points. But when these teams matched up in Corvallis at the end of the regular season, it was a one-possession game much of the way, and the Beavers only lost by 4-points. I think this game looks a lot like that one, and I am again backing the Beavers and taking the points. Do you believe in miracles? Beaver’s fans do!
