Week 10 Fantasy Buy/Sell Trade Targets: Ride D.J. Chark Down The Stretch

Week 10 brings the fantasy football season tipping point.

The double-digit weeks bring out the big fantasy names that are either massive values or overrated sell opportunities.

Here are two WR buys and two RB sells as we sprint towards the fantasy playoffs.

Fantasy Trade Targets

WR, D.J. Chark,  Jaguars

Chark makes his second appearance in this column after a surprising breakout performance with rookie quarterback Jake Luton. Chark has a massive Week 9 performance with seven receptions, 146 yards and a touchdown.

As fantasy owners prepare for the playoffs, they want to start players they can trust. With Jacksonville at 1-7 and now with a rookie quarterback, Chark’s value on the open market is well below his future worth.

Chark is an athletic WR1 on a Jacksonville team that projects to be trailing for much of the remaining schedule. He entered Week 9 ranked in the top 10 in wide receiver red zone targets and fourth in contested catch rate, per PlayerProfiler.

Without question, Chark is the lead wideout in Jacksonville, and he has a fantastic group of games upcoming. This week, he faces a Green Bay pass defense that may be without top CB Jaire Alexander (concussion). Here are the list of opponents for Chark in Weeks 11-14:

• Week 11:  Pittsburgh (21st in fewest fantasy points allowed to WR)
• Week 12:  Cleveland (28th)
• Week 13:  at Minnesota (30th)
• Week 14:  Tennessee (31st)

With guaranteed target volume, size, and speed, Chark has all the makings of a difference maker down the stretch of the fantasy playoffs.

WR Robert Woods, Rams

I love targeting players coming off their bye week, especially wide receivers in consolidated team target shares.

Woods and teammate Cooper Kupp continue to stifle the other’s fantasy value. That should provide an opportunity to trade for Woods, before he enjoys a glorious slate of opponents.

Los Angeles still must face Seattle twice. The Seahawks allow the most scheduled-adjusted PPR fantasy points to opposing wide receivers by 31.8% more than the second-worst team (Cleveland).

Woods has the advantage of already having his bye week and three home games during Weeks 12-15. He only has 37 receptions (17th among WRs) but ranks fifth in yards after catch and eighth in total touchdowns at the position.

His rushing ability is also an underrated part of his fantasy value, leading all wide receivers with 108 rushing yards.

Woods is a WR1 as a realistic trade target for an unsuspecting owner who incorrectly views him as a boom or bust WR2.

Fantasy Sell Candidate

RB, Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys

Yes, it’s time.

Those that are choosing to hold onto Elliott are suffering from fantasy draft take lock.

Elliott still ranks as the RB5 in PPR points per game, which provides the perfect façade upon which to trade him. 

The majority of Elliott’s fantasy value has come as a receiver, a role in which he ranked third in receptions (36). However, he has seen a dramatic decrease in his passing game work with only four total receptions over these past three games. 

The Cowboys have lost both starting offensive tackles and are still without veteran quarterback Andy Dalton. However, the Dallas schedule does him no favors the rest of 2020.

Elliott will face four top defenses that rank in the bottom seven in most fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs from Weeks 12-16. In addition, fellow RB Tony Pollard has seen an increase in usage over the past three weeks.

Pollard actually led Dallas in rushing yards against Pittsburgh with 57 yards at 6.3 yards per carry.  Elliott was dealing with an injury, but doesn’t that give owners yet another reason to sell?

Take advantage of those fantasy owners that think Elliott can “turn it around” down the fantasy playoff drive. Try to flip Elliott for a versatile RB in an ambiguous backfield like Kareem Hunt, Clyde Edwards-Helaire or Antonio Gibson. 

RB, Zack Moss, Bills

Try to sell the rookie Buffalo running back off his recent hot streak.

Moss returned from a toe injury and has been the most productive Buffalo running back, with three touchdowns over the past two weeks.

However, the Bills’ fantasy playoff schedule features three of the toughest run defenses in terms of fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs. Buffalo travels to San Francisco in Week 13, hosts Pittsburgh in Week 14 and then travels to Denver in Week 15.

Moss still has a nearly 50-50 snap share with teammate Devin Singletary, and quarterback Josh Allen always vultures goal-line rushes.

Moss has been super efficient since returning from injury, providing the perfect sell-high opportunity.
