NFL Week 16 Opening Odds Report

Week 15 of the NFL season is in the books and the NFL Odds for Week 16 have opened with some steady movement in multiple markets. Find out which ones might move more, or which ones may still have value.

Minnesota Vikings vs. New Orleans Saints

Friday, December 25, 2020 – 04:30 PM EST at Mercedes-Benz Superdome

Christmas night football is upon us and while the NBA may be a little pissed about the NFL going opposite the Lakers, it’s a pandemic, so the more sports the better in my opinion. Right now, sportsbooks have the Saints laying seven points with a total of 52.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Detroit Lions

Saturday, December 26, 2020 - 01:00 PM EST at Ford Field

The day after Christmas brings our traditional Saturday slate of games and it starts with a barnburner between the Lions and Bucs. With a total of 54 points it barely cracks the medal stand for biggest Week 16 totals, but either side it lands on that number, we should see plenty of points for the day game if the weather is good. The Bucs have seen a ton of money so far on the road, moving from -8 to -9 ½ at some shops.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Arizona Cardinals

Saturday, December 26, 2020 - 04:30 PM EST at State Farm Stadium

The late-afternoon game should also be a nice divisional battle between the Niners and Cardinals. The Niners have already mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, but they would love to deal a death-blow to their divisional rivals on the road to potentially prevent the Cards from reaching the playoffs. Right now, betting sites have Arizona laying -4 ½, up from -3 when the line opened.

Miami Dolphins vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Saturday, December 26, 2020 - 08:15 PM EST at Allegiant Stadium

For all intents and purposes, this is basically a playoff game on Saturday night in Las Vegas. The Dolphins are clinging on to the final wild card spot in the AFC, while trying to fend off Baltimore, who play the Giants at home on Sunday. Las Vegas needs a win and a Ravens loss to keep their playoff chances alive in the AFC, where all but 9 teams have been eliminated from the playoffs already. After the Raiders opened as favorites, the Dolphins have been hammered into the favorite spot, laying -2 ½ or -3 depending on the shop.

Cleveland Browns vs. New York Jets

Sunday, December 27, 2020 - 01:00 PM EST at MetLife Stadium

The Browns are bunched up with the Titans and Colts at 10-4 in the AFC playoff standings and a win this week against the previously winless Jets would go a long way in helping the Browns out. They opened as -10 ½ favorites, but some people are feeling froggy after the Jets’ first win this past week, and have bet the Browns down to -8 ½ road favorites.

Indianapolis Colts vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Sunday, December 27, 2020 - 01:00 PM EST at Heinz Field

Speaking of 10-4 teams in the AFC, the Colts will try and take advantage of a flailing Steelers team on Sunday from Pittsburgh. The Steelers opened at -3, but after their horrific loss on Monday, action has come in steady on the Colts, pushing them to -1 ½ favorites, with a total of 44 ½.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Houston Texans

Sunday, December 27, 2020 - 01:00 PM EST at NRG Stadium

Coming off a giant win over the Steelers on Monday night, the Bengals will try to make it two in a row on Sunday, this time on the road in Houston. NFL Odds makers have the Texans as -8 ½ favorites in this one, with no total markets available right now.

Chicago Bears vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Sunday, December 27, 2020 - 01:00 PM EST at TIIA Bank Field

The Bears’ playoff chances could take a huge leap this week with a Cardinals’ loss on Saturday and a Bears win on Sunday. Chicago is a -7 ½ favorite, which is way up from the -3 ½ they opened at on the road.

New York Giants vs. Baltimore Ravens

Sunday, December 27, 2020 - 01:00 PM EST at M&T Bank Stadium

The Ravens usually would hope the Steelers lose, but they would love to have a Steelers win on Sunday because that would help their playoff chances a lot, as would a win over the Giants. Right now, NFL Odds makers have the Ravens as double-digit favorites in this one, so it looks like their part is well on the way to being handled.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Sunday, December 27, 2020 - 01:00 PM EST at Arrowhead Stadium

Another high-flying game should be the one-loss Chiefs welcoming in the Falcons. NFL Odds makers have the Chiefs as -10 ½ favorites, with a total of 54 ½. That makes the Chiefs this week’s top offense in the implied total ranks for Week 16.

Denver Broncos vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Sunday, December 27, 2020 - 04:05 PM EST at Sofi Stadium

While most people may not be watching the Chargers play the Broncos, it is the first of three late-afternoon contests on Sunday and it has already seen some movement. After opening as -2 ½ favorites in the opening NFL Odds, the Chargers are now sitting at -3 ½ across the board, with a total of 48 ½.

Carolina Panthers vs. Washington Football Team

Sunday, December 27, 2020 - 04:05 PM EST at FedEx Field

Another late afternoon game without a total is the Panthers and Washington. Early odds out for this one favor the Football Team at -2 ½.

Los Angeles Rams vs. Seattle Seahawks

Sunday, December 27, 2020 - 04:05 PM EST at Lumen Field

Getting beaten by a previously winless team is tough to come back from, but that’s exactly what the Rams will have to do if they want to salvage what should have been an easy win. LA is hanging on to the 5th seed in the NFC heading into Week 16, but they are a small +1 ½ underdog this week against the currently, 3rd seeded Seahawks.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys

Sunday, December 27, 2020 - 04:25 PM EST at AT&T Stadium

A win this week by the Cowboys and a subsequent loss by the Football Team would do wonders for the Cowboys’ playoff chances, and it looks like the sharps are on the quick fade train after Dallas didn’t play with their star running back last week. After opening as a PK, the Eagles are now -2 ½ road favorites in the NFL Odds.

Tennessee Titans vs. Green Bay Packers

Sunday, December 27, 2020 - 08:20 PM EST at Lambeau Field

The finale of Sunday’s slate should be a great one as the Packers and Titans hook up from Lambeau Field. The NFL odds for this one have the Packers as -3 ½ favorites after opening at -4 ½. The total for this one is the highest of the week at 56 points.

Buffalo Bills vs. New England Patriots

Monday, December 28, 2020 - 08:15 PM EST at Gillette Stadium

The Josh Allen show heads out on the road to New England this week and with a playoff spot clinched, the Bills are trying to make sure they are playing at home when the games start to really matter in a few weeks. The Pats are eliminated from the playoffs already, but they would love to knock the Bills down the playoff ladder with a win here at home. New England is the last of six home dogs this week, taking +7 points after opening at +4 ½.
