Washington is taking on the remainder of Deebo Samuel’s contract and paying his full $17.55 million salary for the 2025 season, per sources.

Peters knows Samuel because he was San Fran’s assistant GM before coming to Washington. The move makes sense schematically. Kliff Kingsbury will find ways to do the gadgety and creative stuff with Deebo. You’ll have to account for his versatility while keeping Jayden Daniels in check as well. It seems very annoying to game plan for defensively.

That assumes, of course, that Deebo is not washed. He’s 29 years old and coming off a poor season, catching 51 passes for 670 yards and three touchdowns while running the ball 42 times for 136 yards and one score. That’s a career-low 3.2 yard per rush average.

Reading the reaction from Commie fans, and adding in other recent deals, you’d think Adam Peters was the greatest general manager of all time:

Comical. You can tell these fans have been down bad for a long time because they think Adam Peters is pulling off some complicated wizardry. Maybe it does look like complicated wizardry after years of Daniel Snyder-inspired slop, but this Deebo move is basically a one-year trial. A more expensive prove it deal. San Francisco needed to get off Deebo’s contract, and Washington has a lot of flexibility since Daniels remains on his rookie deal and they don’t have a lot of big-money contracts eating up cap space. If Deebo works out, they can give him a new contract, and if he doesn’t, they move on. But Commie fans are acting like Adam Peters is playing some eight-dimensional chess here. They’re delusional. “Can your GM trade middle round draft picks for 29-year-old Deebo Samuel and 28-year-old Marshon Lattimore?” This guy’s best move was hitting with pick #2 in the 2024 draft. Build the statue!

Oh yeah, and the reason Dotson went for a third is because he’s five years younger than Deebo and still on his rookie deal. He didn’t do much for the Eagles during the regular season, but scored a TD in the playoffs and had a big catch in the Super Bowl. The Eagles were a contender and that’s why they made that deal in the summer. They got a Quez Watkins upgrade and didn’t have to use him much at all. Dotson, of course, ended up with a ring while the Commanders overachieved before losing 55 to 23 to the Eagles in the NFC Championship Game.
