It’s the final night of NBA basketball before we head into the All-Star weekend. Coming our way is a 5-game slate, my focus is on the OKC Thunder vs Minnesota Timberwolves clash. Continue reading below to see my Same Game Parlay, but also be sure to visit our NBA Picks page for selection on Thursday’s 5-game slate. Let’s dive into my Thunder vs Timberwolves SGP bet now.
OKC Thunder -7 (-110)
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 2+ Made Threes (-175)
Anthony Edwards to Record 6+ Rebounds (-135)
Same Game Parlay odds: +381
OKC Thunder -7 (-110)
The Timberwolves are just not playing good at all right now. Last night we saw them lose to a shorthanded Milwaukee Bucks team that was without Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. That type of performance is inexcusable, the T’Wolves just couldn’t buy a bucket going 39-for-103 from the field and shooting just 22% from three. Anthony Edwards chucked up 17 three-point field goals, hitting just 4 of them. He is clearly limited by the hip injury he has, so he’s settling for more outside shots instead of taking the ball to the basket.
Oklahoma City, on the other hand, is the 2nd hottest team in the NBA right now behind the Denver Nuggets. They just handled their business against the Miami Heat, winning 115-101 at home last night to push their win streak to 7 games in a row. They’re looking to go into the break with another win here, to help them achieve that Chet Holmgren is coming back after sitting out last night’s game vs Miami. He should have the match-up advantage over Rudy Gobert down low, plus overall the Thunder are just the deeper team and the momentum is clearly on their side here. They also won the first meeting by 8 points over a month ago, with Minnesota going just 4-12 ATS in their last 16 home games I think it makes perfect sense to back the road team here.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 2+ Made Threes (-175)
SGA already has one hand on the MVP award thanks to another prolific month in which he is averaging 33.5 points on over 52% efficiency from the field, to go along with his 6 assists per game. His three-ball has improved as well compared to January, going up from 1.6 makes to 2.3 per game on 6 attempts. That equals 38.9% efficiency, solid enough to warrant us backing him to get to 2 threes tonight against Minnesota. He has cleared this line in 5 of 7 games this month, right now he’s on a streak of 3 straight games with at least 3 threes. With Holmgren coming back, the T’Wolves defenders will have their hands full here trying to contain both him and SGA. Shai is averaging exactly 2 makes from downtown over his last 20 games, so let’s back him to continue knocking it down here.
Anthony Edwards to Record 6+ Rebounds (-135)
As I said earlier Ant Man is dealing with a minor hip injury which has limited his ability to attack the basket, but other than that he is contributing to his team in other areas on a consistent basis. One of those areas is certainly the rebounding department where he has cleared this line in 7 straight games. His rebounds per game is up from 5.8 in January to 7 per game this month, that’s the highest average in a month so far this season. Against a OKC Thunder team that has struggled a bit in the rebounding department, I expect Edwards to get to his numbers here. OKC ranks just 27th in opponent rebounds per game, allowing 54.5 per game. Plus they are also only 21st in rebounds per game as a team, averaging 51.7 a night. Minnesota’s only hope here is to play lock down defense and force the Thunder into tough shots, if that happens then Edwards will be able to bring home our same game parlay.
