Sunderland got back to winning ways on New Year’s Day with a huge winner over fellow promotion rivals Sheffield United to take themselves back within reach of the automatic promotion places.

A 4-0 win at home against Swansea on Wednesday afternoon saw Pompey climb back out of the relegation zone, and currently sit 21st in the second tier table, a point and a place clear of the relegation zone heading into the weekend.

Sunderland have won three of the last four meetings between the two sides including each of the last two. The Black Cats’ strong home form all season combined with Pompey’s dire away form suggests a dominant home win is on the cards on Sunday – I’ll back a 3-0.
