It was a windy night at Citizens Bank Park, to say the least. The flagpoles in Ashburn Alley were shaking from 3:00 in the afternoon til the final pitch. The rain was falling sideways. Trea Turner’s bat went flying in the first inning. Through all that, the Phillies scored their most runs in a game since the series finale vs. the Dodgers, beating the Giants 6-4:

Brandon Marsh was slotted back into the lineup tonight after Rob Thomson said on Monday afternoon that it would probably be a few days off for the centerfielder. Marsh, who was nearly 0 for his last 30 coming into tonight, had a very productive off-day on Monday, getting to the field around 12:30 and taking a ton of reps in the cage.
He was back in the lineup tonight, and while he didn’t have a hit, he hit a hard sac-fly in the 2nd inning that put the Phillies up 2-0. It was big for his confidence to see himself contributing, per Rob Thomson.
Alec Bohm’s start hasn’t been much better than Marsh’s. Bohm’s had about as frustrating of a start to his season as possible. His night started off with a sac-fly to move the runners, then grounded into an inning-ending double play in the 4th. In a moment where he could’ve pouted, he put his head down and ripped a massive go-ahead single in the 6th to score Nick Castellanos. The only people that were more fired up than Bohm? The Phillies dugout:
“They love each other, they wanna see their teammates do well”

The Phillies had 10 hits tonight. A lot of them were game-changing. JT’s home run, Bohm’s single, and a home run for Bryce Harper that probably doesn’t get out without the wind.
But hey, use the conditions in your favor:

It’s one game, I know. But tonight was a very good step in the right direction for the Phillies. Rob Thomson said on Monday night that the Phillies are hitting the ball hard, those hits just need to start falling…that happened tonight.
Bryson Stott’s triple was the hardest hit of his major league career. Max Kepler is hitting the ball really hard almost every at-bat. Things went their way at the plate after a week of bad breaks and poor offense. A win like this, against a veteran pitcher in Justin Verlander, although he’s far out of his prime, can go a long way for a team that still has 145 regular season games remaining.
