Devan Kaney zoomed in on the crowd shot of Kyle Schwarber’s Saturday dinger, which resulted in the ball landing back on the field after two guys went for it:
Absolutely brutal drop by this Phillies fan. Thoughts and prayers. pic.twitter.com/M3S4XfUtZI

Fan interference from the guy on the left. He gets his grubby paws in there and no one wins.
A couple of questions, though:
- Does this guy know the other two? I don’t think he does. If you watch the broadcast video (2nd clip), he’s actually sitting across the aisle and crosses over to make an attempt on the ball.
- The people that he looks back to after the drop are sitting down and they aren’t cheering, so they must be home fans. The one guy is wearing a Nats jersey.
- That being the case, does he have a right to go for this ball? Or does crossing the aisle put him in Zack Hample/douchebag territory?
Could go either way with this. On one hand, you could argue that the guy should stay in his section and that crossing over constitutes a violation. But I think it’s fair game. He’s not exactly running 15 seats over to steal the ball from a kid. He’s a fan of the home team. Is he supposed to sit there and defer to the Phillies fans nearby? If the situation was reversed, would the Phillies fan at Citizens Bank Park sit there politely and let the visiting Braves fan have the only crack at the ball? Probably not, but you tell me. To be, or not to be an asshole. This is the question.
