Teams look to finish the first half of the season strong with the NBA All-Star game approaching. There are 10 games scheduled for Monday, February 10. I will examine four of these games with the Cleveland Cavaliers taking on the Minnesota Timberwolves in the featured game.
Minnesota Timberwolves versus Cleveland Cavaliers
Cleveland comes in with the best record in the Eastern Conference and Minnesota is sixth in the Western Conference. Both teams are coming in “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator, going a combined 9-3 over the last 12 games. The Cavaliers have a +25 to +21 edge on the Power Ranks Indicator. The teams are trending in games “over” the line with a score prediction of 122-113 in favor of Cleveland with a high confidence level of 84 percent. Cleveland is 24-4 at home, Minnesota is 15-11 on the road and has a +10.3 to +3.5 scoring differential edge. The Cavaliers won the first game between the teams this season on the road by seven points. I like Cleveland and home in a game “over” the line.
Boston Celtics versus Miami Heat
In this Eastern Conference battle, the Celtics come in with the second-best record, while the Heat have the sixth-best record at 25-24. Both teams are 4-2 over the last six and Miami is “average up” versus “average” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The teams are trending in games on opposite sides of the line and the score prediction of Miami by a 117-116 score is with only 66 percent confidence. The Celtics have a 20-6 road record, which is better than the Heat’s home record. Boston won by 19 in the first meeting between the teams at home. The Celtics also have a scoring differential edge of +8.5 to +0.2. Both teams are showing consistency with regard to their favorite/underdog status. I like the Celtics by double digits but pass on the over/under bet.
Golden State Warriors versus Milwaukee Bucks
The Warriors are tied for 10th in the Western Conference at 25-26 and the Bucks are 5th in the Eastern Conference with a record of 27-22. Golden State is 1-3 over the last four with “average down” status and Milwaukee is 2-4 over the last six and “ice cold up” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The score prediction is 123-112 in favor of the Bucks with 71 percent confidence. The Warriors are three games under .500 on the road and the Bucks are 16-8 at home. Milwaukee has the edge on the Power Ranking Indicator as well as the scoring differential. The teams split last year and have not yet met this season. I like the Bucks at home but pass on the over/under bet.
Portland Trail Blazers versus Denver Nuggets
Portland is 13th in the Western Conference but 9-1 over the last ten games. They are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +17 on the Power Ranks Indicator. Denver is 3rd in the conference, also “burning hot” and +24, respectively. The scoring trend has been “under” the line for both teams lately and the score prediction is 128-106 in favor of Denver but with only 62 percent confidence. The Trail Blazers have struggled to an 8-16 record on the road while the Nuggets are 17-8 at home. Denver also has a nearly ten-point scoring differential edge. Portland won the first meeting between the teams this season by two points as a big home underdog. Denver gets even in this one, winning big but I pass on the over/under bet.
