The 2024-25 NBA Most Improved Player odds feature a slew of good players, and some are already very good. But who is is the best MIP prediction from a betting perspective?
I analyze these NBA MIP odds and break down the favorites (or in the case, the two main favorites). Keep reading until the end of this article for my best bet for the NBA Most Improved Player in the 2024-25 season.
2024-25 NBA Most Improved Player Odds
The NBA MIP betting odds below are courtesy of Bovada:
PLAYER | ODDS |
---|---|
Dyson Daniels (Hawks) | -550 |
Cade Cunningham (Pistons) | -350 |
Austin Reaves (Lakers) | +7000 |
Tyler Herro (Heat) | +10000 |
Christian Braun (Nuggets) | +10000 |
Evan Mobley (Cavaliers) | +20000 |
In a massive swing since March 24, Atlanta’s Dyson Daniels (-550) has not only moved to the front of the NBA Most Improved odds at NBA betting sites, but he is now a resounding favorite! The league leader in steals now has an implied win probability of 84.6%, which is a huge increase from 37% just two weeks ago. The Hawks’ guard has been playing extremely well over the last 5-6 weeks, and he also got a little injury luck concerning his nearest competitor.
Detroit’s Cade Cuninngham (+350) has dropped drastically from -230 on March 24, but the All-Star guard suffered a calf strain and missed about two weeks. Still, that’s a huge drop in the NBA MIP odds, and he now has an implied chance to win of 22.2%. But at least you can find some value in Cunningham now!
I should mention Austin Reaves (+7000) of the Los Angeles Lakers, Denver’s Christian Braun (+10000), Miami’s Tyler Herro (+10000), and Cleveland’s Evan Mobley (+20000). It would be a major upset if any of these players win over Daniels or Cunningham, but they should be recognized for their improvements.

The Favorite for NBA Most Improved Player
Let’s kick things off with the favorites in the 2024-25 NBA Most Improved Player odds, starting with a player who has made a gigantic leap in the prices.
Dyson Daniels (-550)
This is no knock on Daniels, as he is having a tremendous season. But I just can’t see why his 2025 NBA MIP odds shortened this much in two weeks. He was great in 14 March games, averaging 14.6 points on 52.1% shooting, along with 6.6 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 3.3 steals. The third-year guard is also starting to lobby for the award.
Asked Hawks Dyson Daniels about “controversy” surrounding the Most Improved Player award & his thoughts on what should go into it:
“It kinda says it in the name…who improves the most…if there’s an award that I probably think that I deserve the most, it might be that one…” pic.twitter.com/CTdoxnpbOu

Daniels has gotten off to a good start in March, averaging 17.5 points on 63.3% shooting in four games, including 54.5% from beyond the arc, 6.0 boards, 3.3 assists, and 2.3 steals. He should also be getting considering in the NBA DPOY odds as well, as Daniels’ 3.0 steals per game is 1.2 more than Denver’s Nikola Jokic in second place.
But I don’t think Daniels has done much differently, especially to see the price change that much. The Hawks will be in the play-in round, thanks to Daniels’ improved play. But is that enough to earn him the award?
The Main Challenger
Cade Cunningham (+350)
On the other hand, Cunningham has been outstanding all season long and is the most important player on a team that was 14-68 last season and hasn’t been to the playoffs since 2019. The Pistons aren’t even a play-in team as they’ve clinched sixth spot or better, and fifth is still in play. Detroit is just one game behind Milwaukee for that spot. They have back-to-back games against the Bucks on February 11 and 13.
“I think I can be the best basketball player in the world. I think I’m on my way. I want people to understand that and that’s what I’m working to show people every time I play.”

There is the theory that Cunningham is a former #1 pick and was supposed to be this good. But he hasn’t been until J.B. Bickerstaff got to Cleveland before this season. The former Oklahoma State product is ninth in scoring (25.9 points), and fourth in assists (9.1). He also averages 6.1 rebounds, which is excellent for a guard, along with 1.0 steals and 0.7 blocks.
Cunningham has also been this good all season long, while Daniels has steadily improved. If anything, Cunningham has been better since the All-Star break, and that’s counting his injury. The Pistons are going to be no joke come playoff time, and that’s largely because of their star guard.
NBA Most Improved Player Betting Pick and Prediction
There is definitely a good shout for Daniels to win the award. But I’ve been riding with Cade Cunningham for most of the season in these NBA Most Improved Player odds, and now that he’s at +350, I feel even better for getting some value! Again, Daniels has been great this season after toiling in New Orleans and being traded to Atlanta. I don’t discredit what he’s done this season.
The criteria for the award is very objective, but I’m going by recent history with good players becoming All-Stars. For example, Philadelphia’s Tyrese Maxey, Utah’s Lauri Markkanen, and Memphis’ Ja Morant are the last three winners. Going by that criteria, I’m staying on the Cade Cunningham bandwagon and making him my NBA MIP prediction, and taking all the value at +350!
