Joel Embiid Shows Up Kelly Oubre During Timeout For Lack of Effort

That entire game the effort was piss poor from the Sixers. They had their Big 3 playing together for the first time in forever. What happened? They were down 29 points at halftime. They clawed their way back and the box score will look better on paper than what the game showed, but what everyone will be talking about tomorrow is Joel Embiid showing up Kelly Oubre Jr. on the sideline during this timeout:

I’m totally fine holding a guy accountable, but whatever that was from Embiid isn’t leadership. Get in a guy’s ear. Using a timeout to mock the guy’s effort, whose leading the team in rebounds because his big man has only played in 14 games, is chicken shit. Oubre is one of the guys that goes in there game after game and actually looks like he gives a shit. It’s ironic to see a guy who had his effort questioned earlier this season by teammates question someone else’s, but this is where we are at right now. Whatever that was is just another feather in the cap for the people who want Embiid traded and the team to build around Tyrese Maxey or blow it up altogether. It’s crazy 1.5 seasons ago this guy won the MVP. Now he’s a pariah and the team looks headed for a first round exit after going over the luxury tax. If you were told the Sixers would be sellers at the deadline before the season people would think you were crazy. The All-Star break can’t come soon enough.

Imagine hearing Daryl Morey say this today and then watching that performance tonight. You’re going to need the Hubble Telescope to spot the championship caliber in this team:
