Fulham vs Man Utd predictions

Fulham and Manchester United meet at the unusual time of 7pm on Sunday in their Premier League Matchday 23 showdown.

Fulham will start the match as the betting favourites with the top-rated bookmakers. You might think this sounds strange. Afterall, the Cottagers started Matchday 23 in 10th position in the Premier League with 33 points from 22 matches.

Furthermore, Marco Silva’s team have won just one of their previous four in the Premier League. And they have only won four from 11 in the league at Craven Cottage this season.

It’s true that the Cottagers are having a good season. But they’re hardly challenging for the title or a place in the Champions League.

The odds are simply down to the fact that Manchester United has fallen so low over the past few months. But that’s not Marco Silva’s concern.

Fulham has a record of four wins, five draws and two defeats at home this season. The only teams to defeat them on home soil are Aston Villa (3-1) on Matchday 8 and, bizarrely, Wolves (4-1) on Matchday 12.

Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage and Newcastle lost 3-1. But Fulham are yet to welcome Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City and even Spurs to their home venue this season.

Fulham has won two of its last five Premier League matches. They defeated Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day. That was followed by back-to-back 2-2 home draws against Bournemouth and Ipswich.

The Cottagers tasted defeat away at West Ham (3-2) on Matchday 21. But they managed to end their three-match winless run with a 2-0 victory away at Leicester City last weekend.

Fulham lost 1-0 to Manchester United at Old Trafford on the opening weekend of the season.

In hindsight, the problems United have encountered throughout the season were already on show back on that warm August Friday night.

Under the then manager Erik ten Hag, United toiled, and needed an 87th minute winner from new signing Joshua Zirkee to claim the three points.

The result may have looked okay on paper. But it merely papered over the cracks.

At the start of Matchday 23, Manchester United were 13th in the table with 26 points from 22 matches. The Red Devils have a goal difference of -5.

United is closer to the relegation zone than they are the Champions League, and under Ruben Amorim, they have won just three Premier League matches from 11.

The latest calamity came against Brighton at Old Trafford last Sunday. The Red Devils went behind to a goal from Yankuba Minteh after just five minutes. Bruno Fernandes equalised after 23 minutes from the penalty spot. But 2nd half goals from Kaoru Mitoma and Georginio Rutter put the game out of United’s reach.

It was United’s second poor showing at Old Trafford in three days, with the Red Devils needing to come from behind to beat Southampton 3-1 on the previous Thursday.

The Saints led 1-0 with less than ten minutes remaining. Luckily for United, the Saints weren’t as clinical as the Seagulls.

Southampton were guilty of missing some great chances to put the game to bed. They didn’t take their opportunities, and were made to pay when young United sensation Amad Diallo scored a 12-minute hat-trick.

There is some room for optimism for United fans. The team has only lost one of their last five in all competitions.

As well as the win over Southampton, United held Liverpool to a 2-2 draw at Anfield in the Premier League. They also knocked Arsenal out of the FA Cup on penalties after a battling 1-1 draw at the Emirates. And on Thursday, they defeated Rangers 2-1 at Old Trafford in the Europa League.

Fulham vs Man Utd betting tips

Fulham doesn’t lose many at Craven Cottage. But as we’ve already established, they’ve won less than 50% of their home matches and they still have plenty of the Premier League big boys yet to visit west London this season.

United are just too unpredictable. When they are good, they are a match for anybody. But they can’t seem to raise their game for these sorts of matches in the Premier League. That said, we still think they will leave Craven Cottage with at least a point. Read on for our Fulham vs Man Utd betting tips below:

Man Utd and draw in double chance

Fulham have only won four of eleven fixtures at Craven Cottage this season. United have only lost four on the road, drawing four and losing two.

The Red Devils have lost more matches at Old Trafford than they have on the road. And their better performances in recent weeks have come at Anfield against Liverpool and the Emirates against Arsenal.

It is tempting to back the Red Devils at 9/4. But given they have only won two of their ten road trips, covering the draw as well looks the best bet.

⚽ Back Man Utd to win or draw in the double chance market at 8/13 with Casumo ⚽

Over 2.5 goals

Fulham has kept only two clean sheets in their last eleven in the Premier League, and only one in their last five matches.

The latest shutout was against Leicester last weekend. And the Cottagers 2-0 win over the east Midlands team was the first match in their last five that over 2.5 goals have failed to be scored.

Over 2.5 goals have occurred in seven of Manchester United last ten Premier League matches, including all of their last three. The bet would also have won in their match against Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday.

⚽ Back over 2.5 goals in the match at 10/11 with Sky Bet ⚽

Alejandro Garnacho 2+ shots on target

Alejandro Garnacho had a lively match against Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday.

The in-demand winger had five attempts on goal against the Gers, with two on target.

Whatever his motivation was, he seemed up for the challenge. And assuming he’s in the team for the Fulham match, he looks set to cause Bernd Leno problems in the Fulham goal.

⚽ Alejandro Garnacho to have two or more shots on target at 23/10 with Paddy Power ⚽
