Eddie Hearn gives surprising response when asked if he expects invite to Jake Paul’s wedding

Eddie Hearn doesn’t think he will be on Jake Paul’s wedding invite list.

YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul recently proposed to partner Jutta Leerdam, with the pair announcing their engagement on social media.

World champion speed-skater Leerdam was in tears with Paul in their announcement video, having played an integral role in the boxer’s life including attending his fights.

Paul has worked with Matchroom Boxing promoter Hearn on multiple occasions and the pair will again promoter Katie Taylor’s trilogy bout with Amanda Serrano on July 11.

But they haven’t always got on the best in the past, with Hearn filing a lawsuit against Paul in 2022 after the YouTuber accused him of paying a boxing judge.

And when asked by talkSPORT.com how his relationship with Paul is now, and if he can expect an invite to the wedding, he replied: “Probably not, no.”

But he was surprisingly complimentary of Paul’s recent successes, adding: “No. No. Listen, I like, I think what Jake has done, not just through his boxing career, but also the huge events that he’s put in together, you’ve got to take your hat off to.

“I wasn’t an advocate of Jake Paul against Mike Tyson, but what an event. The numbers were fantastic. I mean, we had Taylor Serrano on the card, you know.

“The guy knows how to create headlines. You just got to be a little bit careful when you’re pushing for the big money, the big moments.

“If you get the pick wrong, it’s not, it ain’t a game. So, but if he wants to roll the dice in a fight with Anthony Joshua, why not?”

Hearn could do more business with Paul if his call-out to Joshua materialises.

Paul discussed a clash with Joshua this week, but insists it will have to happen in 2026.

Both Paul and Hearn have worked well together on previous occasions, even doing a comical face-off before Taylor’s original meeting with Serrano.

And although they are not now on the best of terms, they have been able to put their quarries aside to do the best business for their fighters.

In their last interaction, Hearn was critical of Paul’s controversial clash with 58-year-old Tyson which he won on points.

And Paul’s advisor Nakisa Bidarian criticised Hearn’s stance on the event.

“Keep getting sent these articles on Eddie Hearn taking shots at Jake Paul versus Mike Tyson,” he said in an Instagram post.

“How, if you’re involved you have no empathy for the sport, how he’d never be involved in a million years.

“Eddie, you’re involved, man. Involved in a big way. Katie Taylor, your most celebrated fighter, is the co-main event and it’s her biggest payday as you know.

“It’s funny. I remember when Francis Ngannou was fighting Tyson Fury, you were out there saying, ‘This is a circus. This is a clown show. This shouldn’t be happening.’

“But as soon as the opportunity came for you to be involved with Anthony Joshua versus Francis Ngannou, you were running so fast to sign that contract and make a talk about, ‘Oh, this is a real fight. Oh, it’s such a big deal.’”

Hearn and Paul will likely become more directly involved in the summer, with Taylor vs Serrano 3 on the horizon.
