Baltimore Ravens ML over Buffalo Bills (-118)

While the Ravens dominated the first meeting between these teams, that doesn’t mean that the same thing will happen this Sunday. Buffalo has looked just as impressive as any team in the NFL down the home stretch of this season, as the Bills have put up 143 points in 4 straight wins, and that all started with a 48-42 victory over the Lions in Detroit. Buffalo’s defense was extremely stingy last Sunday, holding the Broncos to just 224 yards, 13 first downs, 7 points and just 2-9 in 3rd-down situations. Denver head coach Sean Payton is one of the premier play-callers in the NFL, so that’s no small feat for a defense that needs to be at its best this week.

With that said, the Ravens looked unstoppable in the Wild Card Round against a division foe that’s seen them three times. Last year, Baltimore failed to stick to their best asset in the playoffs – their run game – and created a game plan that featured a plethora of passing. That doesn’t seem to be on that path this time, as Baltimore ran for 299 yards on a very formidable Pittsburgh defensive line and had little to no issue controlling the line of scrimmage. The Bills’ front seven has very high upside, but by all statistical standards, they’re a very mediocre group (19th in opponent yards per rush, 16th in opponent yards per pass). That doesn’t bode well in this matchup against a physically dominant Ravens offensive line. Let’s take Baltimore on the money line.

Over 51.5 (-106)

The forecast doesn’t necessarily suggest that scoring will be plentiful on Sunday. With that said, this game features the top MVP candidates and 2 more of the most explosive offenses in the league (Buffalo ranks 2nd in points per game and Baltimore is 3rd). Even though Baltimore’s defense was fierce and fast in their Wild Card win, Josh Allen’s ingenuity and the Bills’ dependable core of skill players are a top operation to hold down for long, especially when they’re at home. Buffalo has scored 30+ points in numerous games this season, and the Bills will be very comfortable operating in these frigid conditions.

On the other side, the same could be said of the Baltimore offense, and the Ravens have proved they can do it. Henry ran for 299 yards in the Ravens annihilation of the Bills in Week 4, apparently having no challenges controlling the Bills’ sturdy front seven. In the Wild Card round, the Ravens were able to turn up the volume and enter attack mode in the blink of an eye. When Baltimore wanted to score, they simply could not be stopped, even by one of the NFL’s most respected defenses. In a game of this magnitude, the MVP quarterbacks that lead these elite offenses will eventually take over and hold edges over the defenses. One of the two units will likely succeed in the first quarter, which will trigger urgency and tempo in the opposing offense. With that in mind, even if we see adverse weather conditions on Sunday, we’re not sure that any impediments can stop these offenses.

Josh Allen anytime touchdown scorer (+110)

For the final leg of our Same Game Parlay, let’s go with Josh Allen to find the end zone. I’ve targeted Allen to find the end zone on multiple occasions throughout this season, and those tickets have cashed repeatedly. As I have mentioned in previous touchdown scorer pieces, the Bills often turn to Allen to dig them out of a hole when the chips are down, and he typically uses his legs to do so. Offensive coordinator Joe Brady’s reliance on his quarterbacks’ legs in pivotal spots has also been consistent in big games this season, and I expect that to continue in a massive win-or-go-home playoff game in Orchard Park on Sunday. Allen has found the end zone with his legs in 6 of the Bills last 8 contests and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if the MVP-contender gets multiple opportunities in the red zone in this one. With the season on the line, we can trust that Allen will make a play around the goal line.
