Alec Bohm is Already Using a “Torpedo Bat”

Torpedo bats have taken over baseball throughout the past weekend since the Yankees broke them out and absolutely hammered on the Milwaukee Brewers.

Cody Bellinger, Anthony Volpe, Paul Goldschmidt, and more have used the new bats. If you haven’t seen them, it’s basically a bat that takes some weight from the handle part and puts weight into the barrel. They look like bowling pins.

These bats are completely legal and it’s hilarious that teams have taken this long to realize that they’re allowed to use them. They’re primarily made by Victus, who is stationed in King of Prussia. Bryson Stott, Bryce Harper, and Brandon Marsh will start using them soon, according to Ben Silver:

Alec Bohm spoke to reporters after the game and said that the new bats got here a little bit before first pitch today. Bryson Stott spoke about the bats ahead of today’s game and went very in-depth about the process of getting fitted for them. Players go through a lab, get fitted for their bat, and then hit a ton of balls to determine which one fits them the best.

The bat won’t work for everybody; it all depends on their swing tendencies:

I’m curious to see how many Phillies start to use these bats. If it helps them, I can’t imagine some guys other than the four named won’t try and use them, at least in the cage to start.
