‘What were you doing?’ – Roy Keane rips into Gary Neville for making DJ debut at Kendal Calling

Roy Keane ripped into Gary Neville for DJing at Kendal Calling alongside The Charlatans’ Tim Burgess.

The Manchester United legend teamed up with Charlatans frontman behind the decks at the Cumbria festival, even pulling out his old football skills.

As they played The Courteeners song “Not Nineteen Forever”, a beach ball made its way onto the stage with the Salford co-owner picking it up and heading it back into the raucous crowd.

Neville appeared to be loving life as he span the decks, pulling out a little dad dance on stage.

When he returned to The Overlap, his new found DJ skills were at the top of the agenda.

“I went to my first ever festival. Kendal Calling,” he said. “I was actually dreading it, but I enjoyed it.”

Jill Scott asked if he was actually DJing, and Neville replied: “I just pressed play a couple of times. Tim [Burgess] lined the songs up and I just pressed play.

“I had such a good time.”

Unsurprisingly, his former Man United teammate Keane was having none of it.

He said: “Gary wants to appeal to the young kids. What were you doing there?

“What were you doing on the stage?”

Neville replied: “So Tim Burgess from The Charlatans..”

Keane said: “I don’t care who he is. 

“Why are you going on stage for? Do you think people who bought a ticket want to see you on stage?”

Neville: “Roy, did you see the crowd? It was amazing. It’s the best crowd I’ve ever played in front.”

It is quite the career change, having been used to playing in front of 70,000 at Old Trafford and being a cornerstone of Sir Alex Ferguson‘s all-conquering United side.

He made 602 appearances for the Red Devils and never played for anyone else and after retiring in 2011, has since become a multi-millionaire having become a property mogul and is a prominent presenter on Sky Sports.
