Valtteri Bottas makes naked calendar declaration and continues to prove he’s the ultimate Formula 1 teammate

There is no one on the Formula 1 grid like Valtteri Bottas.

The Finnish driver, who continues to sport a moustache and bleach blonde mullet, is loved across the globe for his unique style and sense of humour.

Almost an honorary Australian, with help from road and gravel cyclist partner Tiffany Cromwell, there are no ends to his talents.

He himself is a keen cyclist, taking on events even during the F1 season.

But some of his most impactful moments have come in nature, fully nude, just wearing a trademark cheeky smile.

After a picture of a naked Bottas, taken by Cromwell in Aspen, Colorado, went viral – nearly 5,000 copies were then sold for charity.

That made around £42,000, with friend and former teammate Lewis Hamilton also receiving framed version.

Last year, Bottas then opted to make a naked calendar – appropriately named ‘Bottass 2024′ – raising $150,000 (£117,221) for Movember. it’s now sold out online.

But, speaking to talkSPORT after testing out Kick Sauber partner Zero’s carbon neutral synthetic fuel at their test track at Bicester Heritage, he remained coy on the next edition.

“There’s no release date yet. Keep waiting, you never know with me,” he laughed.

Asked who shouldn’t follow in his footsteps and bare all, Bottas insisted he’d be fine seeing all his rivals without a stitch on.

However, the classy driver admitted he’d step in to save his teammate Zhou Guanyu from feeling uncomfortable.

He joked: “Finns are pretty easy with nudity and everything so nobody would make me feel awkward.

“I would probably choose my teammate Zhou not to do it because he’s told me he could never do it. He’s a bit shy. I’ll be helping him to not do it.”

It’s not unusual to see Bottas proving to be an exemplary teammate, having dovetailed superbly with Hamilton at Mercedes for five seasons between 2017 and 2021.

Teamwork in F1 is more important than you might think and, with Alpine stars Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon quarrelling on-track, the Finn revealed what it takes to be the best teammate.

“You need a challenge, you know,” Bottas said.

“You need someone keeping you on your toes, but at the same time you need a team player. In the end the team always wants to go first and the development of the team always needs to be the priority if you want to enjoy the success.

“As teammates you need to be able to work together with a setup even in the races if you’re on a different strategy.

“You can’t have extra friction between teammates. and for me and Zhou it’s been great.”
