Open champion Brian Harman goes viral for frosty 46-second interview at PGA Tour event

Brian Harman was not in the mood to talk about his opening round at the RBC Heritage.

The Open champion shot a one-under-par 70 on Thursday after a sloppy closing two holes.

Harman was cruising along at three-under par before dropping three shots on 17 and 18, featuring a double-bogey at the last.

Understandably, the American was not in the best of spirits, and his post-round interview was something to behold…

Reporter: “Not the way you wanted to end it there. How would you assess your round overall?”

Harman: “Played good except the last two holes.”

Reporter: “What did you do between the Masters and coming out here?”

Harman: “Went home. Not much. Just spent the week at home with my family.”

Reporter: “Can you talk us through the birdies you made?”

Harman: “Chipped in on three. Made an eight-footer on six. Ten-footer on nine. And then a 15-footer on 13.”

Reporter: “Can you walk us through the last hole there?”

Harman: “No. Good? Thanks.”

The frosty post-round press conference, which lasted a grand total of 46 seconds, has since gone viral on social media.

Harman rose to fame by winning the Open Championship at Royal Hoylake last year in a stunning six-shot victory.

The world No.10 had not won a PGA Tour event since 2017 but suddenly found himself on the American Ryder Cup team, which suffered defeat in Rome.

Since then, Harman finished runner-up at the Players Championship in March and secured a T5 finish at The Sentry in January.

However, his first major appearance since his maiden title went horribly wrong at the Masters earlier this month.

Harman appeared to be doing OK, reaching two-under par after his first nine holes, but finished round one nine-over par after a truly disastrous back nine.

He would subsequently miss the cut at Augusta National.

At Harbour Town on Hilton Head Island, Harman’s erratic form continued as he found himself T40 on three-under par after the opening two rounds on Friday.

Meanwhile, Scottie Scheffler is ready to win his fourth win in five PGA Tour starts in what will be a delayed finish owing to bad weather that suspended play.
