The NHL season is nearly two-thirds of the way complete and numerous teams are still in the playoff hunt. There are 20 teams in action for Monday, February 19. We will take a look at half of the games with the Bruins hosting the Stars in the headlined matchup.
Dallas Stars versus Boston Bruins
Dallas comes in winners of five of their last six and second in the Western Conference. Boston has dropped three in a row and is second in the Eastern Conference. The teams have been trending in games “over” the line and the score prediction is 4-3 in favor of Dallas with 68 percent confidence. Boston won the first meeting between the teams as a road underdog. The Stars are +29 to +21 on the Power Ranks Indicator and have been the more stable team according to the Team Volatility Oscillator. The Bruins are 17-7-4 at home and the Stars have an exceptional road record of 17-6-4. I like Dallas to even the score with a road win of its own in a game “over” the line.
Detroit Red Wings versus Seattle Kraken
Here’s a game of two teams heading in opposite directions. Detroit has dropped its last two while Seattle has won its last two after dropping the previous three. Detroit has a +24 to +11 edge on the Power Ranks Indicator although Seattle has been climbing recently. Seattle is 11-9-4 at home and Detroit is a respectable 12-12-1 on the road. The teams have been trending on opposite sides of the line and the score prediction is 4-3 in favor of Seattle with 70 percent confidence. Seattle won the first meeting between the teams on the road in overtime. I like the Kraken to go up 2-0 this season with a one-goal win, but pass on the “over/under” bet.
Winnipeg Jets versus Calgary Flames
Winnipeg is fourth in the Western Conference while Calgary is on the outside of the playoff picture looking in. The Jets are “average up” after winning the last two and Calgary is “average” after dropping its last two after winning the previous four. The teams have been trending in games on opposite sides of the line with a score prediction of 3-2 in favor of Calgary with 49 percent confidence. The Flames have a better road record than a home record and have won the last two games between the teams. Let’s go for three in a row for Calgary but pass on the “over/under” bet.
Vancouver Canucks versus Minnesota Wild
Both teams are entering play “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Vancouver has the best record in the NHL and Minnesota has worked its way back above the .500 mark. The teams have been involved in games “over” the line in eight of the last 12. The score prediction is 4-3 in favor of the Canucks but with only 58 percent confidence. The teams split the first two meetings this season, both winning as home favorites. Vancouver has a better road record than Minnesota does at home. Let’s go with Vancouver by two goals in a game “over” the line.
Vegas Golden Knights versus San Jose Sharks
Both teams come in “average” on the Team Strength Oscillator with Vegas at +28 to +4 on the Power Ranks Indicator. Despite 5-3-2 over the last ten games, San Jose is second from the bottom in the Western Conference. The score prediction is for Vegas to pick up a road win by a 3-2 score. Vegas is 12-10-4 on the road and San Jose is only 9-13-2 at home. The Golden Knights have won the last three games between the teams by a combined score of 14-5. There is little indication that the Sharks will be competitive in this one. I like Vegas by at least two goals in a game “over” the line.
