NFL Picks Week 2: Chiefs host Bengals in Featured Game

The NFL regular season is underway and the games were generally sloppy in the opening week. The teams are looking for rhythm with their starting units, which didn’t play much in the preseason. There is a full slate of games scheduled. We’ll examine five games with the Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Cincinnati Bengals in the headlined matchup.

San Francisco 49ers versus Minnesota Vikings

Minnesota comes in “burning hot” after a week one win on the road over the Giants. San Francisco is also 1-0 and “average up” after a win over the Jets. San Francisco is a 5.5-point road favorite with odds of -234 to +192 with an over/under of 46.5. In week one, the teams were on opposite sides of the over/under line. The score prediction favors the 49ers by 16 points but with low confidence. Good underdog value pick on the Vikings. Minnesota is +22 to +9 on the Power Ranks Indicator. I like the 49ers to win, but the Vikings to cover in a game “over” the line.

New Orleans Saints versus Dallas Cowboys

Both teams enter the contest with a 1-0 record. The Cowboys are 6.5-point favorites with odds of -267 to +224 with an over/under of 46.5. The teams were involved in games “over” the line in week 1 and the score prediction is Dallas 39-10 with 57 percent confidence.  There is low confidence in the underdog value pick for the Saints, but a high probability of 81 percent that the game is decided by one score. Dallas was undefeated at home last year and won most games by at least ten points. I like Dallas by a touchdown in a game “over” the line.

Cincinnati Bengals versus Kansas City Chiefs

Cincinnati enters after a poor performance against the Patriots at home and Kansas City is entering after taking down the Ravens at home. The Chiefs are 5.5-point home favorites with a 64 percent chance of winning. The odds are -244 to +203 with an over/under of 48.5. Note that the Bengals have lost their last four games and the score prediction is the Chiefs in a 38-14 blowout although confidence is only 40.8 percent. The teams were on opposite sides of the over/under line in the opening week. I like the Chiefs by at least a touchdown in a game “over” the line.

Las Vegas Raiders versus Baltimore Ravens

Both teams come into play having lost their opener. The Ravens are 8.5-point home favorites with odds of -408 to +319 with an over/under of 41.5. The teams are trending in games on opposite sides of the line with a score prediction of 36-15 in favor of the Ravens but with only 42 percent confidence. Baltimore is 4-1 as a favorite over the last five games and has a +28 to +2 edge on the Power Ranks Indicator. Baltimore has a 76 percent chance of winning, making them a 5-star pick. I like Baltimore to win and cover but pass on the over/under bet.

Atlanta Falcons versus Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles enter the game after taking down the Packers in Brazil and the Falcons lost their opener to the Steelers, 18-10. Philadelphia is a 6.5-point home favorite with odds of -292 to +237 with an over/under of 47.5. The teams were involved in games on opposite sides of the line last week. The score prediction is 39-15 for the Eagles with 65 percent confidence. The Eagles are a 4-star home pick but the Falcons are also a 4-start underdog pick, making for an interesting matchup. Atlanta has lost six straight and I predict seven straight after this one. Go with the Eagles minus the points in a game “over” the line.
