Chicago Bears to beat Tennessee Titans 

The Caleb Williams era begins in Chicago as the Titans visit Soldier Field. Quarterback Williams was the universal choice as the number 1 pick in the 2024 draft and comes to the league with many analysts believing he is a potential superstar. 

Chicago started last season slowly, falling to a 1-5 start, but improved as the season went on, winning six of their last 11 games. Much of this improvement can be credited to their defence who conceded the least points per game in the NFL from week 10 onwards. 

Alongside Williams they have added real depth to their offence, signing the veteran Keenan Allen and drafting the exciting Rome Odunze in the first round. 

The Titans start their first season without their talisman Derrick Henry and will rely on second year Quarterback Will Levis to move the ball. An away game against a confident side looks a daunting challenge for Week 1. 

Cincinnati Bengals to beat New England Patriots

A mix of injuries and bad luck caused the Bengals to have a below par season in 2023. Quarterback Joe Burrow never looked 100% before his season ended prematurely with an injury. If he is back to 100% health he is one of the top players in the league, and the Bengals should ensure at the least a play-off spot. 

Their opponents the New England Patriots were one of the worst teams last season and a quick fix does not seem realistic. The moves that they have made this off-season look focused upon the future rather than the 2024 season, and will likely finish with one of the worst records in the league. The Bengals to get off to a positive start looks a likely outcome come Sunday evening. 

Houston Texans to beat Indianapolis Colts

CJ Stroud was a revelation in his rookie season, and the Texans will look to make a statement victory against their divisional rival Colts on Sunday. They added Stefan Diggs to an already excellent offence and Stroud has an embarrassment of riches to move the ball. 

Divisional games are traditionally tight affairs and it will not be an easy contest. The Colts welcome back the exciting Anthony Richardson from injury and are a good team on paper. However, the Texans feel a little further ahead than the Colts in their progress and should start the season with a win. 

Miami Dolphins to beat Jacksonville Jaguars

Miami got off to a hot start going 6-2 in their first eight games of 2023 and will look to repeat or better that record in 2024. Head Coach Mike McDaniel is a natural innovator and will likely have planned a few new tricks to begin the season. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is blessed with arguably the best 1-2 combination of wide receivers in the league in Hill and Waddle, and both will look to blow away the Jacksonville opposition in week 1. 

The Jaguars are a capable team who will be able to compete with Miami. However, going to Hard Rock Stadium can be tough, as the Dolphins finished 7-2 at home last year. Back the Dolphins to start 1-0 on the year.
