NBA Picks October 27: Warriors Host Clippers in Pacific Division Battle

The 2024-25 NBA season is underway. Teams are in the early stages of the feeling-out process. Five games are scheduled for Sunday, October 25. The featured game is a Pacific Division battle between the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Clippers.

Philadelphia 76ers versus Indiana Pacers

The 76ers dropped their opener without Joel Embiid and Paul George while the Pacers are 1-0 after a six-point win. Indiana is “burning hot” versus “ice cold down” and +22 to +2 on the Power Ranks Indicator. The score prediction is Indiana, with a score of 124-107 and 71 percent confidence. The Pacers won two of the three games between the teams last season with each game score totalling at least 256 points.  Under normal circumstances, I would lean towards Philadelphia, but with the absence of their best two players, this is an easy pick for the Pacers in a game “over” the line.

Milwaukee Bucks versus Brooklyn Nets

Milwaukee opened with a road win against the shorthanded 76ers and the Nets fell to Hawks by four on the road. Milwaukee is “ice cold up” versus “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +17 to +4 on the Power Ranks Indicator. The score prediction is Brooklyn, with a score of 117-112 and 69 percent confidence. The Bucks won all three games between the teams last year, including two on the road.  Both teams were involved in games “over” the line in the opener. I see a high-scoring game in this one as well. Let’s go with the Bucks and “over” the line.

New Orleans Pelicans versus Portland Trailblazers

The Pelicans won their opener against the Chicago Bulls by 12 while the Trailblazers lost by 36 at home to the Golden State Warriors. New Orleans is “ice cold up” versus “ice cold down” and +25 to 0 on the Power Ranks Indicator. Despite the blowout loss, Portland is predicted to win 110-108 with 66 percent confidence. New Orleans won all three games between the teams last season. Both teams were involved in games “over” the line in the opener. I like New Orleans to drop Portland to 0-2 but pass on the over/under bet.

Atlanta Hawks versus Oklahoma City Thunder

Both teams opened the season with wins. The Hawks defeated the Nets, and the Thunder won by 15 on the road against the Denver Nuggets. Oklahoma City is “burning hot” versus “ice cold up” and +19 to +16 on the Power Ranks Indicator. The teams played in games on opposite sides of the line in the opener. The Thunder won two of the three games between the teams last season going 2-0 at home and losing in Atlanta. I like the Thunder at home in a game “over” the line.

Los Angeles Clippers versus Golden State Warriors

In the matchup of the day, the Warriors host the Clippers. Golden State is coming off a 36-point win in the opener while Los Angeles is fell by three in overtime against the Phoenix Suns. Golden State is “burning hot” versus “average” and +29 to +12 on the Power Ranks Indicator. Both teams were involved in high-scoring games in the opener and the score prediction has the Warriors by 22 points with 93 percent confidence. The Clippers won three of four games between the teams last year, winning both at home. I like Golden State at home in a game “over” the line.
