With over half of the 2023-24 regular season games complete, teams are looking to make a push for playoff positioning. There are ten games scheduled for February 12. We will take a closer look at four of those games with the Clippers hosting the Timberwolves headlining the action.
Minnesota Timberwolves versus Los Angeles Clippers
Two of the top teams in the Western Conference battle in this one. Both teams are 4-2 over their last six with Minnesota “average up” versus “average” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +26 to +21 on the Power Ranks Indicator. Minnesota won the first game between the teams this year by four points at home where they have a 19-5 record. This time the Clippers are at home with a record of 19-5 and the Timberwolves have a 17-11 road record. The teams are trending in games on opposite sides of the line with Minnesota given a one-point edge in the score prediction with 50 percent confidence. I see this game really as a toss-up but give the edge to the Clippers being the home team. Go with Los Angeles perhaps needing overtime to win it in a game “over” the line.
Denver Nuggets versus Milwaukee Bucks
Denver comes in second in the Western Conference and Milwaukee is third in the Eastern Conference. The teams are heading in opposite directions. The Nuggets are 5-1 over their last six and “burning hot”, while Milwaukee is 1-5 and “dead” status during the same stretch. The teams are trending in games “under” the line with a score prediction of 121-115 in favor of Milwaukee. After even on the Power Ranks Indicator on February 4, Denver now has a +29 to +17 edge. The Nuggets won as a home favorite in the first meeting between the teams this season. Milwaukee is 21-6 at home and give them the edge. Go with the Bucks in a game “under” the line.
New York Knicks versus Houston Rockets
The Knicks come in fourth in the Eastern Conference after going 8-2 over their last ten games. Houston is 12th in the Western Conference and have work to do to get back into playoff contention. The teams are trending in games mainly “under” the line with a score prediction of 121-114 in favor of Houston. Despite a sub-.500 overall record, the Rockets are excellent at home at 18-6. Both teams are consistently performing with regard to their favorite-underdog status. New York won by 15 points at home in the first meeting between the teams. I like them to get a road win in a game decided by three points or less, but pass on the “over/under” bet.
Washington Wizards versus Dallas Mavericks
Here’s another game featuring teams heading in opposite directions. Washington has lost their last four and “ice cold down” on the Team Strength Oscillator and Dallas is “burning hot” after winning their last three. The teams have been involved in games “under” the line in nine of the last 12 games. The score prediction has Dallas by eight points in a 238-point total with nearly 77 percent confidence. Washington is a mere 6-19 on the road versus a 14-13 home record for the Mavericks. There is little indication that Washington can keep up with Dallas in this one. I like the Mavericks by double-digits in a game “over” the line.
