This is more like it. Stuff the shit out of some guy on the defensive end, then Phi Slamma Jamma on the offensive end.
Embiid looks better. Knocking the rust off and getting used to FIBA play. He had a really nice outlet pass for a LeBron dunk earlier, and he was effective in the first half against a front court that features a couple of NBA players. Germany has Daniel Theis, Mo Wagner, Franz Wagner, Dennis Schroder, and a bunch of good Europe-based players, like Andreas Obst, who lets fly like 2018 Marco Belinelli.
The other thing is that when you watch these games, you can tell it’s everyone’s Super Bowl against the United States. They’re all about it, while our guys are playing maybe 75% at this point. They’re nowhere close to full speed. Yet you’ll read all this shit like, “South Sudan almost beat the USA!” Nobody cares. Once the games start to count, the intensity level will rise. Serbia, South Sudan, and Puerto Rico are all in trouble, as Sir Charles once said.
