Harry Kane may be scoring goals for fun at Bayern Munich – but he still doesn’t start ahead of Kylian Mbappe.
That is according to Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand, who talked up the 2018 World Cup winner after watching him in the Champions League.
Former Tottenham striker Kane found the back of the net twice on Tuesday night as he fired his side into the competition’s quarter-finals at the expense of Lazio.
The England skipper scored in either half as Bayern overturned a 1-0 first leg defeat to win 3-1 in the second leg.
It brings his tally to 33 goals in all competitions this season – one more than he managed last campaign and in 16 fewer matches.
He now just needs seven more strikes to equal his record 41-goal tally from the 2017/18 term.
But despite leading the European Golden Shoe race with 27 Bundesliga goals, he still is one shy of Mbappe‘s haul from this season.
The Paris Saint-Germain striker scored twice on Tuesday night as he helped dump Real Sociedad out of the European Cup.
And Ferdinand has insisted he would rather have Mbappe in his line-up over Kane – as well as Erling Haaland.
Speaking on TNT Sports, he was asked who he would start out of three formidable forwards, to which he said: “Mbappe.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry. They’re all great. There’s no bad or wrong answer here really, but… Mbappe, man.
“I’d pay everyday to watch him train let alone play in a match, because he creates things on his own.
“I can give him the ball at left-back and he might score.
“I can give him the ball anywhere on the pitch and he could create something. The other two not so much.
“They are great, don’t get me wrong. But Mbappe’s just got that something different that would make me sit up at night and go, ‘Thank you, God.’”
