Fight Promotion 101: Jeremy Stephens Calls Philadelphia a Second-Place City and Says He’s Going to Smash Eddie Alvarez at Knucklemania

If you missed the announcement in late November, the Wells Fargo Center will host Bare Knuckle FC’s “Knucklemania” on January 25th. The headlining bout is former UFC champ and Kensington native Eddie Alvarez against Jeremy Stephens, another former UFC fighter with 29 MMA wins and a 2-0 bare knuckle record. The Tuesday press conference was pretty good, and we got some quality soundbites:

I love it. This is how you promote a fight. Drop a lot of F bombs, call someone a dickhead, argue with the crowd, and then we cap it off with some lady yelling in the background. It looks like a lot of fun to be one of the goombahs in the crowd, drinking a beer at 2 p.m. while yelling at the opponent. Can’t wait for 1/25. Should be nothing but unmitigated violence.
