Dana White suggests Tyson Fury didn’t train properly for Francis Ngannou fight as he reacts to brutal Anthony Joshua KO  

Dana White wasn’t surprised to see Francis Ngannou get put to sleep by Anthony Joshua at ‘Knockout Chaos’.

The former UFC heavyweight champion was dropped twice before being brutally knocked out cold by Joshua at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Friday night.

Ngannou looked great in his squared circle debut last October as he dropped WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and pushed him the 10-round distance.

Many people believed the Cameroonian KO artist was unlucky to come away with a split decision defeat, but his old boss thinks he was fortunate Fury didn’t take him seriously.

White, who has repeatedly expressed his dislike of crossover fights, says Joshua did to Ngannou what Fury should have done when they met at ‘The Battle of the Baddest’.

“I saw it on social media,” he said at the UFC 299 post-fight press conference.

“If Fury trained for the fight and didn’t show up and look like he ate Tyson Fury, that’s probably the way that fight would’ve ended too.”

“You know how I feel about crossovers, that’s how they end, just like that.”

Ngannou annoyed White by rejecting a new bumper UFC contract, and a mega-fight with Jon Jones to chase the boxing dream that got him into combat sports.

The MMA mogul famously called Ngannou ‘gimmick’ fight for boxers, and the two men have taken shots at each other through the media ever since.

Ngannou, who earned just $600,000 per fight with the UFC, is still a winner despite suffering back-to-back defeats since making the bold decision to change sports.

After earning around $10 million (£7.8M) to fight Fury, it’s reported Ngannou banked up to $20 million (£15.8M) for taking on Joshua in his second boxing bout.

AJ implored his opponent to keep boxing, but Ngannou has the option to return to MMA and make even more money with the UFC’s main rival, PFL.

The 37-year-old signed a lucrative deal with PFL last year and has always assured fans that he will return to the cage in the not-too-distant future.

6ft 8in Brazilian KO artist Renan Ferreira has already been named as his MMA debut opponent, and the two behemoths could fight in the cage before 2024 is over.

Ngannou will take some time to recover from his defeat before announcing what’s next.

Only one thing is certain, he won’t be returning to fight for White’s promotion anytime soon.
