Cameron Menzies wooed Fallon Sherrock at KFC but the ‘Queen of the Palace’ has gifted him the secret recipe to darts fame in return.
The sports’ power couple will both be involved at the PDC World Championships, where they’ll be hoping their throws are finger-flicking good.
‘Queen of the Palace’ Sherrock rose to fame in 2019 when she became the first woman to beat a man at Ally Pally.
Five years later the 30-year-old will set up a matchup with darts superstar Luke Littler should she beat Ryan Meikle in the first round.
Despite this, there’s one man she doesn’t want to face across the oche in her fifth outing at the tournament and it’s not ‘The Nuke’.
Sherrock is desperate to avoid any clash with boyfriend Menzies – even though she wouldn’t be able to stop herself celebrating if she threw a 180.
She told Online Darts: “100 per cent. I mean, can you imagine the arguments afterwards? Regardless of who wins.
“Before and after, it would just be so nervy. I don’t think it would be a good game for anyone to watch because we’d both be quite nervy and stuff.
“I know everyone wants to see it, but there’d be a lot of nerves in that one. I don’t think it’s a great thing that everyone wants to watch it. Put me up against any other player, I’ll be fine.
“Obviously, I’m not going to tell you the conversations that we have, but I always back myself, and he always backs himself.
“Hopefully, we never have to see it on TV. I don’t mind it on a floor game, but hopefully not on TV. We do practise [together], and even then, it gets a bit nervy.
“Can you imagine it on TV? You would see all the emotions, and I think even if I hit a 180, I’d probably celebrate a little bit.”
Sherrock’s performances on the PDC Women’s Series earned her spot at Ally Pally while Menzies qualified through the Pro Tour Order of Merit.
The latter, who fits his darts schedule around his job as a plumber, has been winging his way to stardom since a KFC date in 2021.
The Scottish ace told the Sun: “Covid was a hard time for a lot of people. I didn’t pick a dart up, I hated it. I started playing golf instead. It was the only thing we could play because it was outside.
“Covid was a bad time. I lost my love for darts. When it calmed down and darts came back again, that’s when I started seeing Fallon. Then it was darts crazy. Practice all the time and that definitely helped.
“We were friends for years and then I was down at the Modus Series. On the way back up we went for something to eat that day.
“We were just friends but that was the start of it. It was a KFC. It was her choice, she likes a KFC.”
So was it love over a Bargain Bucket? “It was just a couple of mini fillets. Love at first sight!” Menzies added.
Three years into their relationship, Menzies continues to be inspired by his trailblazing other half competing in a male-dominated sport.
He told Sky Sports: “We enjoy our practice together and she is a very class player.
“She has done well for darts in general and is banging in 90 averages and 100 averages, the same as a lot of women.
“I’m quite lucky I’ve got a very good partner who can play darts.
“It’s good in the house unless she beats me and I’ve got to make the food. I don’t like it when she beats me.
“I will support her left, right and centre. I am her biggest fan.
“I might be a bit strict, but I know how good she is. I’ve known her for a very long time and I know she is very, very good.
“She’s taken me places I would never have experienced because of darts, so I’m a very lucky person.
“I’m her biggest fan and I wish her all the best.”
