Bucs Put Player On IR, Have 6 Questionable For Week 14

As if the injuries for the Bucs weren’t already bad enough, they continue to pile up head of their Week 14 game. Earlier in the day, Bucs head coach Todd Bowles ruled out four players for their game against the Raiders, a couple of hours later, one of those players goes from being out to going on injured reserve.

The Bucs announced on Friday afternoon that cornerback Troy Hill, who was already ruled out for the game because of a foot and knee injury, has been placed on the injured reserve list. He will have to be out for the next four games and is eligible for the Week 18 season finale against the Saints. Hill signed to the Bucs’ active roster on November 18 and played in two games in a special teams role.

While we knew who was going to definitely be out for Sunday’s game, when the injury report came out, it left a lot more uncertainty. The Bucs have six players listed as questionable, including star rookie running back Bucky Irving and fellow rookie Tykee Smith, who is trying to come back after missing the previous three games.

Irving has been sensational for the Bucs this year, leading the team with 732 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns. They just made him the focal point of the rushing attack, giving him a career high 25 attempts last game that went for 152 yards and a score. Luckily, the Bucs have good depth at the position with Rachaad White and Sean Tucker, so the Bucs will be fine if he can’t go. Since Smith is out for a while, the Bucs have that covered too, but it hurts not having Mike Edwards this week.

Other players that are questionable are Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, J.J. Russell, Josh Hayes and Trey Palmer. The big part of this is Russell, who is already filling in for K.J. Britt. If he’s not available, Vi Jones likely gets the nod at inside linebacker next to Lavonte David. Jones was on the practice squad for a little last year and most of this season. He signed to the active roster a week ago and has a couple of practice squad elevations. He has played in four games this year mostly on special teams and has made two tackles.
