Bucs Injury Report: 2 Doubtful, Status Of Otton & Edwards Determined

While it was announced earlier in the day from head coach Todd Bowles that only safety Antoine Winfield Jr. would be out for the Bucs’ Sunday night game against the Cowboys, it appears that they might be without a couple of more players.

Tampa Bay released their injury report on Friday afternoon and they have tight end Cade Otton (knee) and inside linebacker K.J. Britt (ankle) listed as doubtful for the game. Safety Mike Edwards (hamstring) who has missed the last two weeks, has more of chance to play and is questionable.

The Bucs have played recently without Edwards and Britt, so they’re prepared to go into another game without them. The absence of Otton, though, presents a new challenge. Otton has been known as an ironman for playing pretty much every snap in each game on offense. He’s only missed one game in his career as a rookie back in 2022. It looks like he’ll miss his second career game in 2024.

This means second year player Payne Durham gets more of an opportunity as the starting tight end with Ko Kieft used in certain blocking formations and in a fullback role. This also likely means that rookie seventh round pick tight end Devin Culp will dress for the game. He’s appeared in two games this season playing two offensive snaps and 17 special teams snaps.

During this whole season the Bucs have been able to navigate through a ton of injuries on offense. Despite the importance that Otton brings to the lineup, they should be able to still score a good amount of points in their primetime matchup.
