Bucs Cast Wide Net In Latest 2024 Mock Drafts

Prepare yourself for many 2024 NFL mock drafts in the first few months of this calendar year. Before the Bucs match up on Sunday against the Panthers, the latest wave of mocks have plenty of needs being addressed on both sides of the ball.

Big changes will be coming to the team regardless of whether Tampa Bay wins or loses in Week 18, but the game will also play a big factor in draft positioning. Sitting at No. 20 right now, what could the Bucs do to revamp the roster?

Should they look at beefing up the offensive line? With left guards Aaron Stinnie and Matt Feiler pending free agents and center Robert Hainsey playing at replacement level, there are a couple of spots to shore up.

Or what about adding an offensive playmaker at wide receiver or tight end? Should Mike Evans re-sign, he and Chris Godwin could use another complement in the passing game, and a tight end No.1 type to pair with Cade Otton is also a need.

How about the defense? An elite pass rusher transforms a defense, and there are a couple of realistic targets in this year’s draft. As well as this, Tampa Bay’s 32nd-ranked pass defense could use reinforcements, especially at strong safety as Ryan Neal is likely gone.

That’s not even mentioning the most important position – quarterback. Baker Mayfield has played his way into the conversation of sticking around on a new deal, but with a strong quarterback class, it would not hurt to draft and develop another arm.

With so many areas the Bucs could look to improve upon, the latest round of mock drafts is very interesting. PewterReport.com looks at what they have in store when Tampa Bay is on the clock this coming April.

No. 20 – Tampa Bay Bucs: Georgia OT Amarius Mims

Baker Mayfield’s recent play in Tampa Bay changes the direction of the franchise, in my opinion. This offseason’s priorities should be locking up Mike Evans and upgrading on the offensive line. With this in mind, Amarius Mims projects as a solid right tackle in the NFL.

No. 20 – Tampa Bay Bucs: South Carolina WR Xavier Legette

Mike Evans is preparing to hit free agency and this would leave a void at wide receiver for Tampa Bay. Xavier Legette is an impressive physical specimen with outstanding athleticism and long speed. Pairing him with Trey Palmer and Chris Godwin presents a gifted trio of pass-catchers for Baker Mayfield (potentially) in 2024.

No. 20 – Tampa Bay Bucs: Penn State EDGE Chop Robinson

No. 19 – Tampa Bay Bucs: Washington QB Michael Penix Jr.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will likely have a new coaching staff in 2024, meaning there’s an excellent chance they could draft a quarterback early in the 2024 NFL Draft. Michael Penix Jr. can make a lot of money with his performance in the College Football Playoff. Still, regardless, he should be drafted at some point in the first round because there are so many quarterback-needy teams. The fit and value here with Tampa Bay make a ton of sense.

No. 20 – Tampa Bay Bucs: Iowa CB Cooper DeJean

Cooper DeJean offers versatility in the secondary as well as return ability. Tampa Bay is in a good position to compete within a weak NFC South for years to come but they need to infuse more young talent on the roster. No. 20 – Tampa Bay Bucs: Georgia OT Amarius Mims

If the Buccaneers aren’t in a position to obtain a franchise quarterback, they’ll need to give Baker Mayfield better protection.

Amarius Mims has gotten lots of positive feedback from the scouting community. He has a tremendous skill set and lots of upside.

No. 51 – Tampa Bay Bucs: Illinois CB Tahveon Nicholson

The Buccaneers need to replace Sean Murphy-Bunting at the very least to strengthen their terrible secondary.

Tahveon Nicholson has some size concerns, but should do well in the slot.

Penn State EDGE Chop Robinson NFL Draft

No. 20 – Tampa Bay Bucs: Penn State EDGE Chop Robinson

Tampa Bay could have a long list of needs in the offseason, so this pick will be about matching any of them with the best value on the board. In this scenario, it’s a deep class of edge defenders that gives them a bargain pick in Robinson, who has the explosiveness and pass-rushing polish to be the perfect successor to veteran Shaq Barrett.

No. 51 – Tampa Bay Bucs: Minnesota S Tyler Nubin

No. 84 – Tampa Bay Bucs: West Virginia OL Zach Frazier
