Bournemouth vs Tottenham Hotspur predictions
To paraphrase Forrest Gump, Tottenham Hotspur are like a box of chocolates: you never know what you are going to get.
Anyone with even a passing knowledge of Spurs would not have been surprised to see them follow up a 4-0 away win at Manchester City with a 1-1 home draw against Fulham.
Inconsistency has been an issue throughout Ange Postecoglou’s tenure and, unless things improve, it will be difficult for them to qualify for the Champions League this term.
There are mitigating factors behind Sunday’s result. For one, Fulham are a good team. They play with energy and do not tend to give much away defensively.
Tottenham also had some key absentees, from Guglielmo Vicario in goal, to Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven at centre-back, to Dominic Solanke up top. Dejan Kulusevski, their most impressive performer in 2024/25, was on the bench due to fatigue concerns. Take the spine out of any side in the Premier League and they are bound to struggle.
Still, Tottenham need to become more reliable if they are to secure a top-four finish. It is no good breezing past Manchester City and Manchester United on the road if you cannot beat Ipswich Town at home, or avoid defeat at Crystal Palace.
And so to Bournemouth. Make no mistake, this will be a tricky test for Tottenham. The Cherries have also been inconsistent this season, albeit in a more forgivable manner given their resources and expectations.
On their day, though, they are capable of giving anyone in the league a bloody nose. Just ask Arsenal and Manchester City, both of whom lost at the Vitality Stadium.
The Cherries beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-2 on Saturday. They are still six places below Spurs in the standings but, such is the tightness of the middle section of the Premier League, Andoni Iraola’s side would go above their opponents with a win on Thursday.
That is quite the incentive for a Bournemouth team that are targeting a top-half finish this season. As for Spurs, a win on the south coast would demonstrate that Postecoglou’s side are capable of picking up positive results even when everything is not in their favour.
Bournemouth vs Tottenham Hotspur betting tips
Tottenham Hotspur will be targeting all three points when they travel to Bournemouth.
Draw
Tottenham have tended to be an all-or-nothing, boom-or-bust team this season. Sunday’s stalemate was their first draw in the Premier League since the opening weekend.
The score also finished level when Spurs faced Roma in the Europa League a few days prior to the game against Fulham. We anticipate a third consecutive tie here.

Bournemouth should get something from the game. Their direct, dynamic style works well against the division’s top teams, who usually aim to dominate possession.
Without Van de Ven’s pace, Tottenham’s high line will make them vulnerable. But they too are effective going forward, especially if Solanke is back from a bout of illness.
This should be a fun game but we might not get a winner at the Vitality.

Over 28.5 shots
No one could accuse either Bournemouth or Tottenham of being dull to watch.
These two teams are frequently involved in entertaining encounters. Their methods are different, but Iraola and Postecoglou have produced sides that are easy on the eye. Tottenham average more possession than Bournemouth, but the pair share a desire to press high up the pitch with intensity.
Bournemouth and Tottenham are among the most prolific shot-takers in the Premier League, with the former ranking fourth (15.8) and the latter ranking second (15.2).
Those numbers suggest we will see a fair few attempts on Thursday night, not least because of Tottenham’s aforementioned defensive absentees.
This looks set to be an end-to-end encounter with plenty of penalty-box action. Incidentally, this bet paid out when these two teams last met on New Year’s Eve 2023 – there were 36 shots on that occasion.

Over 3.5 goals
Games with lots of shots do not always produce lots of goals, but there is reason to believe this one will.
Tottenham are third in the league for expected goals, but they have actually outperformed that number.
That shows they are better at converting chances than they are at finishing them, even though Spurs are doing well in both regards.
Bournemouth are undershooting their own expected goals, which is the fifth-best in the league. Yet they demonstrated what they are capable of against Wolves last time out.
That last clash between these two teams ended 3-1 to Spurs. We reckon there will again be at least four goals when Postecoglou’s side take on Bournemouth for the first time in 2024.
