2024 NBA Cup MVP Odds – SGA, Brunson, Giannis Top the Board

2024 NBA Cup MVP odds feature the best of the eight teams headed to the quarterfinals, which will be held on Tuesday, December 10, and Wednesday, December 11. Who will lift their team to NBA Cup MVP glory?

I’ll delve into the odds and make my 2024 NBA Cup predictions, and try to find you some betting value among these great players!

2024 NBA Cup MVP Odds

PLAYER ODDS
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (OKC) +325
Jalen Brunson (NYK) +500
Giannis Antetokounmpo (MIL) +600
Stephen Curry (GS) +750
Luka Dončić (DAL) +800
Karl-Anthony Towns (NYK) +1000
Franz Wagner (ORL) +1000
Alperen Sengun (HOU) +1100
Damian Lillard (MIL) +1800

Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (+325) is the favorite with a 23.5% implied chance to win the NBA Cup MVP! “SGA” is the best player on a team many feel is the best team in the Western Conference, so he’s at the top of the list. But New York’s Jalen Brunson (+500) isn’t far behind with a 16.7% implied probability. Brunson has proved he can go head-to-head with any star in the NBA.

Then you have the likes of Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo (+600), Golden State’s Stephen Curry (+750), and Dallas’ Luka Dončić (+800), ranging from 14.3% to 11.1%.

You can take Orlando’s Franz Wagner off the board. The Magic star is out for at least a month with a torn oblique. That is the same injury that took down his teammate, Paolo Banchero.

NBA Cup MVP Favorites

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (+325)

The Thunder star is fourth in the league in points with 29.8 per game, and he led Oklahoma City to the top of the West Group B to advance. Gilgeous-Alexander is not only the favorite in the NBA Cup MVP odds, but he is second only to Dallas’ Luka Dončić in the regular-season NBA MVP odds!

The 26-year-old is the undisputed leader of the Thunder, who will face Doncic’s Mavericks in the semifinals. You’ll find “SGA” in many daily NBA player props. Gilgeous-Alexander will be motivated for that game as the Mavericks eliminated the Thunder in the playoffs last season, and then beat them 121-119 in Oklahoma City on November 17.

The Thunder will only go as far as Gilgeous-Alexander takes them, so he is a deserved favorite in these 2024 NBA Cup MVP odds!

Jalen Brunson (+500)

The same is true of Brunson, who is 11th in points with 25.2, and he has formed a deadly pick-and-roll duo with Karl-Anthony Towns (+1000), who is a little further down the board at BetOnline. But Brunson is the engine of the team, and if the Knicks win, he’ll garner the votes.

The Knicks host Atlanta on Wednesday night in the quarterfinals, and that should be fun with New York villain Trae Young in town (more on Young later). But Brunson can go toe to toe with Young, and he’s far more efficient, so this would work in the Knicks’ direction. New York has to be considered the favorites to each the championship game in the East, and that’ll be largely on Brunson’s shoulders.

Giannis Antetokounmpo (+600)

The two-time MVP leads his team into action against Orlando, who are missing Paolo Banchero and now, Franz Wagner. This should make for a relatively easy game for the Bucks, but nothing is easy in Milwaukee this season. But they have been much better lately, winning eight of their last 10 games.

Antetokounmpo has been fantastic this season, leading the NBA in points with 32.5, while also averaging 11.6 rebounds, and 6.2 assists. He is also still an all-world defender, he just needs some help to get the Bucks over the hump. Khris Middleton is back, and Antetokounmpo doesn’t need much help. But if he gets it, Antetokounmpo could add the NBA Cup MVP to his sterling resume!

Stephen Curry (+750)

Curry is benefitting from a more balanced attack in Golden State, where he is putting up 22.6 points, 5.4 boards, and 6.5 assists. But the Warriors should know, when push comes to shove, they need to feed Curry the ball. The Warriors head to Houston to face the Rockets on Wednesday night.

However, I do wonder how much the Warriors care about the NBA Cup. Like many teams, their goal is the NBA title. However, it’s magnified when you have Curry at 36 years old, and Draymond Green at 34. Can these veterans get up for the NBA Cup, or will they throttle back to save their legs? That’s why I’m skeptical of Curry’s 2024 NBA Cup MVP odds.

Luka Dončić (+800)

Doncic might be the scariest player in the league to face when in a knockout situation, and after a slow start to the season, the Slovenian star is red-hot with the rest of his team. The Mavericks have won 11 of their last 12 ahead of their showdown with Oklahoma City. Doncic is crucial to that, averaging 30.0 points, 9.4 rebounds, 8.6 assists, and 3.2 steals over his last 10 games!

The 25-year-old has had a couple of niggling injuries so far this season, but he looks back to his best, and that’s bad news for the rest of the league. I could absolutely see Doncic rolling to the NBA Cup MVP!

NBA Cup MVP Sleepers

Damian Lillard (+1800)

On the flip side of Antetokounmpo, you have Lillard, who is averaging 25.7 points and 7.5 assists for the Bucks. While he’s not putting up monster numbers, Lillard is playing efficient basketball, and it looks like Antetokounmpo and Lillard have figured out their roles in the offense.

But Lillard still can go nuclear, and he’ll need to shoot well to space the floor against Orlando’s tough defense. But we’ve seen “Dame Time” before, and if Antetokounmpo doesn’t have it, Lillard can spring into action, and up the board in these NBA Cup MVP predictions.

Trae Young (+3300)

It has been an interesting season for Young, who is having the worst shooting season of his career, going 38.5% from the field, and 31% from three-point land. However, he leads the league in assists with 12.2, two more than second-place Nikola Jokić. Young’s 293 assists are 83 more than LeBron James and Tyrese Haliburton, who both have 210!

The game against New York will be critical to Young’s NBA Cup MVP odds. Will he get enticed into a shootout, or a one-on-one game with Jalen Brunson? Or will he play as he has this season, looking to get his teammates involved? Either way, Young at Madison Square Garden is must-see TV.

NBA Cup MVP Prediction and Betting Pick

This is a great list of contenders, but only one can make it to the top of my NBA Cup MVP predictions! I’m going to lean on Luka Dončić, who at +800, offers an outlandish bit of betting value here. The Mavericks are hot right now, and I’m riding with Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and the Mavericks to make a run through the Emirates NBA Cup!
