2024-25 Heisman Trophy Odds and Betting Predictions

The 2024-5 Heisman odds before the start of the season suggested a quarterback is the most likely winner of the prestigious NCAAF trophy. But the Colorado Buffaloes’ star Travis Hunter has instead emerged as the clear favorite.

College football betting can be unexpected, so you should consider various options if you’re betting on the 2025 Heisman Trophy. Keep reading to see my thoughts on the favorites, a few top sleepers, and my predictions for the potential winner.

2024-2025 Heisman Trophy Winner Odds

Top college football betting sites have update their Heisman Trophy odds every week of the season. Here are the latest prices, courtesy of BetUS Sportsbook.

Player 2024-25 Heisman Odds Previous Odds Preseason Odds
Travis Hunter -800 +250 +5000
Ashton Jeanty +500 +400 >+5000
Cam Ward +1400 +300 +2000
Dillon Gabriel +6000 +230 +700

Only four candidates remain in the updated Heisman Trophy odds. Colorado’s two-way star Travis Hunter was my preseason sleeper pick for the Heisman when he opened at +5000 odds but is now the betting favorite to win at -800.

Ashton Jeanty is a distant second at +500, but the star running back cannot be counted out. A pair of quarterbacks, Miami’s Cam Ward (+1400) and Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel (+6000), round out the field.

NCAAF Heisman Trophy Favorites for 2024-25

Anyone following college football this year knows that the Heisman has become a two-man race. Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel had a strong case, but it has waned significantly in the last month. With Gabriel fading, the trophy will be likely decided between Travis Hunter and Ashton Jeanty.

Travis Hunter (-800)

Travis Hunter is a candidate to be the first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, so it is no surprise he is also a Heisman favorite. I highlighted Hunter in my preseason picks, selecting the two-way star as my Heisman sleeper. After another stand-out season, Hunter has gone from +5000 to the -800 betting favorite.

Hunter is such a heavy favorite that BetUS offers a special Heisman bet, pitting the DB/WR vs. the field. In that wager, Hunter is again listed at -800, and the field is available at +425.

The Buffaloes stumbled against Kansas, jeopardizing their chances of making the 12-team CFP. However, since Hunter is not a quarterback, missing the playoffs will not hurt his candidacy as much as it would other Heisman hopefuls.

Ashton Jeanty (+500)

Running back Ashton Jeanty’s historic season has helped bring more attention to Boide State than the Broncos have had in a long time. Jeanty was off the Heisman radar before the season started, having longer than +5000 odds for the award.

The talented running back has carried the Broncos to the top 11 in the CFP rankings. If he can maintain his high level of play down the stretch, Jeanty could power Boise State to a playoff appearance.

Making the playoffs may not be enough for Jeanty to claim the Heisman. He will be a finalist, so Jeanty does have a shot to steal the award. However, despite having the second-best odds, he is a long shot to win.

Best Longshot Heisman Odds for 2024-2025

Speaking of longshots, BetUS offers rewarding Heisman Trophy odds on two quarterbacks likely to be finalists in New York. Cam Ward and Dillon Gabriel have been at or near the top of the Heisman odds for most of the season, but their odds have faded down the stretch.

  1. Cam Ward (+1400)

Miami (10-1) is a playoff contender thanks in large part to the play of quarterback Cam Ward. The talented quarterback is expected to be a top pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. His draft stock is high, but Ward’s Heisman odds have taken a hit in recent weeks.

Ward opened at +2000 and played his way to +300 odds to win the Heisman. However, Ward’s odds faded significantly after Miami’s loss to Georgia Tech. The Hurricanes remain playoff contenders, but Ward is only listed at +1400 odds to win the Heisman.

  2. Dillon Gabriel (+6000)

Dillon Gabriel used the transfer portal to join the Oregon Ducks this season. The former Oklahoma quarterback opened as the +700 Heisman favorite and was listed at +230 for the award at the end of October.

The Ducks are undefeated with Gabriel at quarterback and will likely enter the CFP as the top overall seed. Despite the team’s success, Gabriel is now listed at +6000 odds to win the Heisman this season. Gabriel leads the Big Ten in passing yards, but that is not enough to overcome the historically great seasons of Hunter and Jeanty.

  3. Drew Allar (+5000)

Penn State (7-0) has quietly risen into the top three of the AP rankings. Drew Allar, the Nittany Lions’ quarterback, has completed a career-high 71.3% of his passes this year. He is also averaging career highs in yards per attempt (10.0), yards per completion (14.0), and passing yards per game (243.3).

Despite making significant strides this season, Allar is only listed at +5000 odds to win the Heisman. Allar and the Nittany Lions can secure a massive statement win against #4 Ohio State this week. If the quarterback can lead Penn State to the win, he should become a legitimate contender in the Heisman odds.

2024-2025 Heisman Trophy Prediction and Betting Pick

The odds to win the 2024-2025 Heisman Trophy have shifted significantly throughout the year. After a tumultuous season, Colorado’s Travis Hunter is a heavy favorite at -800 to win the award.

Hunter was my preseason sleeper pick to win the Heisman when he opened at +5000. He has put in the work and turned in another outstanding season. Hunter has a chance at being the first overall pick in April, and I think he will win the Heisman this season.

Dillon Gabriel also deserves consideration in this betting market. Although he has been the favorite at various points this season, he now has the fourth-best odds at +6000. If the Oregon quarterback can create a Heisman moment in his final regular season snaps, he could impress the voters enough to win the award.
